Yours Healthcare The golden booklet heart
In this fully revised third edition of The Golden Book for the Heart, Gert Schuitemaker presents eight lifestyle steps to prevent cardiovascular disease. Four steps focus on nutrition and supplements: eat a Mediterranean diet, take your basic supplements daily, stay vigilant in your own kitchen, and use age-defying essentials as you age. The best-known age-defying essentials are R-alpha-lipoic acid, L-carnitine, and ubiquinol, the "active form" of coenzyme Q10.

Four steps remain, including exercise, quitting smoking, and limiting stressors. The eighth lifestyle step is regular checkups. This final step also addresses medication use, which is merely an "alternative" to a healthy, heart-conscious lifestyle. As you can imagine, this step also differs from what you'd normally hear from your doctor.
