Yours Healthcare Fit with nutritional supplements
Dr. Gert Schuitemaker is a pharmacist and a doctor of medicine. He has been involved in orthomolecular science since 1980, following the principles of two-time Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling. Schuitemaker is editor-in-chief of the journals ORTHOmoleculair Magazine and Fit met Voeding. He is also the founder and former chairman of the professional association Maatschappij ter Bevordering van de Orthomoleculare Geneeskunde (MBOG) and a former president of the International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine (ISOM, based in Toronto). For other books by him, visit www.gezondeboeken.nl.

Toine de Graaf, MD, has specialized in healthcare as a journalist since 1989. After working for a magazine and a daily newspaper, he opted for freelance work in 1996. De Graaf is the editor-in-chief of Fit met Voeding (Fit with Nutrition) and also writes for various media outlets, including ORTHOmolecular Magazine and gezondNU (healthy NOW).

The authors are strong proponents of the Mediterranean diet and the "primal diet." This is because our bodies and genes have become accustomed to this diet over millions of years. Humans grew up with it. How different our lifestyle is now. No matter how well you eat and how responsibly you live, circumstances have changed significantly, and our bodies and genes haven't been able to keep up. Hence nutritional supplements.

The average doctor has no idea about this. You rarely leave their office with sound nutritional advice. They prefer to prescribe medication, even if a good diet and nutritional supplements address the root cause of the condition, especially as we age. For decades, medication has taken the place of a good diet. The use of nutritional supplements was and still is systematically ignored.

The authors demonstrate that orthomolecular science is a logical extension of the major discoveries in nutritional science of the last century. It fully aligns with the philosophy of the great vitamin discoverers. This timeline, with orthomolecular science as a "natural" component, can certainly be extended into the future, with the completion of the Human Genome Project as the catalyst.

It's important for your health to understand these backgrounds. Combined with the practical knowledge this book provides, it offers you the opportunity to take control of your health again.
