The importance of high doses of vitamin D has been known for some time in the orthomolecular world. A flood of unequivocal research results is gradually convincing national and European government agencies. Both the recommended daily amounts and the maximum permitted doses continue to rise. This product contains 75 mcg of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), expressed as 3000 IU (international units), extracted from sheep's wool fat. This extra-high dose is suitable for temporary use during the winter months. Moreover, this dose is suitable in situations where there is an increased vitamin D requirement. It is best to have your vitamin D level determined and adjust the dose based on your blood values.

Vitamin D3 most effective
The most common forms of vitamin D (calciferol) are vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Ergocalciferol is a plant-based form, while cholecalciferol comes from animal sources but is also produced by humans in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet light, such as the sun (hence the nickname "sunshine vitamin"). These forms of vitamin D are converted in the liver into the metabolite calcidiol (25-hydroxyvitamin D). Calcidiol is converted as needed in the kidneys and other cells and tissues into the biologically active hormone calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D). However, regarding supplementation, it is important to know that in most cases, vitamin D3 appears to be more effective than vitamin D2 in increasing blood levels of calcidiol and ultimately calcitriol.

Ingredients
Rice flour (Oryza sativa), vegetable capsule (pullulan, from fermented cassava starch), cholecalciferol (from algae), anti-caking agent (calcium salts of fatty acids).

Usage
Take 1 capsule daily with water and a (fat-containing) meal. Follow the recommended dosage.

This nutritional supplement is not suitable for children under the age of 18 (legally required declaration in Belgium for products containing 75 µg vitamin D per daily dose).
