Vitals Ubiquinol 50mg

In the Netherlands, Vitals is one of the first and most important purchasers of Q10 products (ubiquinone and ubiquinol) from the Japanese company Kaneka, the world's largest producer and pioneer in the field of Q10.

About Ubiquinol
This product contains 50 mg of ubiquinol, the most biologically active form of Q10. Supplements with Q10 typically use the oxidized form of this nutrient, called ubiquinone. After oral intake, oxidized Q10 is largely converted into ubiquinol, the reduced form of Q10. This conversion process, which can be difficult due to various causes (such as old age), is not necessary when using ubiquinol. Ubiquinol in a ready-to-use form has been available for use in supplements since 2006. Orally administered ubiquinol is better absorbed and leads to greater bioavailability than ubiquinone. In many situations, supplementation with ubiquinol will therefore be preferred over regular Q10.

Research has shown, in both animals and humans, that administering ubiquinol, compared to an equal amount of ubiquinone, results in higher Q10 levels in blood plasma. Research also indicates that the differences are more pronounced in older people than in younger people. In a study where healthy elderly people received 100 mg of ubiquinol or 100 mg of ubiquinone three times a day, it was found that the plasma Q10 level in those who received ubiquinol was twice as high. Furthermore, there are indications that replacing ubiquinone with ubiquinol supplementation can lead to even greater differences in plasma Q10 levels in certain individuals.

Internal and external sources of Q10
The body is supplied with coenzyme Q10 through both its own production and intake through food. Foods with the highest concentrations of Q10 include dark green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach, nuts, and meat. Organ meats, in particular, are a relatively good source of Q10.

The multi-step endogenous Q10 production requires the presence of a wide range of nutrients. Poor eating habits can therefore easily lead to an insufficient supply of Q10. In addition, the amount of reduced Q10 (ubiquinol) available through the daily diet is generally limited, because ubiquinol is easily oxidized to ubiquinone during food preparation. The body's ability to produce Q10 itself generally gradually decreases with age, a process that often begins around the age of forty. It has also been shown that the body is less able to convert ubiquinone to ubiquinol at an older age. In older animals, the ratio between the ubiquinol concentration and the total Q10 concentration in plasma significantly improved with ubiquinol supplementation, while this effect was less pronounced with ubiquinone administration. A healthy diet is a primary requirement to ensure sufficient coenzyme Q10 in the body. To supplement Q10 intake through diet, one can choose to supplement with a Q10 or, even better, a ubiquinol preparation.

Kaneka Ubiquinol™
Dietary supplements with coenzyme Q10 have been available for decades, but initially, these were exclusively preparations with ubiquinone, the oxidized form of Q10. This was due to the fact that ubiquinol easily oxidizes when exposed to air or light. This created insurmountable problems in manufacturing a supplement in which the reduced state of the nutrient was preserved. However, the supplier of Vitals Ubiquinol, the Japanese company Kaneka, has succeeded, with the help of advanced technology, in being the first to develop a patented process with which a ubiquinol supplement of consistent quality can be realized. As a Q10 specialist with years of experience, Kaneka can also guarantee that Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is completely natural and body-identical, and thus has the highest possible bioavailability.
