Recent TNO study
In a recent – independent, disinterested – systematic review by TNO (2018), Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG emerged as the best, compared to other probiotic strains and mixtures. This review only included probiotic products available on the Dutch market for which randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies had been conducted using the (combination of) bacterial strain(s). The aim of the study was to provide doctors and health professionals with a guide based on a solid scientific foundation, allowing them to confidently advise on the use of probiotic products. Three qualitative, independent human studies with Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG resulted in the highest score of three stars. And it is also the only strain with three stars. Furthermore, there were six strains or mixtures with one star. It is notable that this one strain scored better than formulations with more strains. More is therefore not always better. Moreover, this review once again demonstrates that it is essential for probiotics to be evaluated based on strain-specific research. And if a product contains multiple strains, studies should be conducted with that specific combination of strains. One strain is not the other, and one strain can influence the other. Quality and viability
The Danish company Chr. Hansen, the probiotic specialist, is the owner and producer of this bacterial strain. Their advanced production process ensures that the capsules in the sealed packaging have a long shelf life outside the refrigerator. This is naturally very convenient in practice and in stores. In addition, Vitals consciously chooses dark violet glass (almost black) for its probiotic products, which optimally protects the contents against the influences of air, light, and moisture. In addition, the packaging contains a moisture-absorbing sachet and the packaging is hermetically sealed with an airtight aluminum seal. About the name Microbiol
The name Microbiol is derived from 'microbiome'. This is the totality of all microorganisms that live on and in our body, such as the gut flora. These are the bacteria that have been part of our gastrointestinal tract since birth. These include lactobacilli.

Ingredients
Lactobacillus rhamnosus, rice starch (Oryza sativa), vegetable capsule: pullulan (from fermented cassava starch).
Usage
Take 1-2 capsules daily with a meal and water. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. When using an antibiotic, it is advisable to allow at least 2 hours between taking Microbiol Platinum and the antibiotic. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Please note: After opening, preferably store in the refrigerator. During use, when the cap is repeatedly unscrewed, moisture and air enter the product. To maintain optimal stability during use, refrigerated storage may be beneficial from that point on. Unopened, the product can be stored perfectly at room temperature. Consult your doctor or midwife before use if you are pregnant and have severe obesity and/or (gestational) diabetes.
