Quality
The seaweed used in Iodine Biological is knotted seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum). It is organically and sustainably harvested by producer Seaweed & Co from the clean sea around the Hebrides (a group of islands off the west coast of Scotland). After harvesting, the knotted seaweed is processed using a patented production method that preserves the seaweed's original nutritional value. Furthermore, each batch is analyzed for iodine content and purity to ensure it meets the highest quality standards. The iodine content in seaweed can vary considerably. Both too low and too high iodine levels are undesirable, so it's important to choose a seaweed product where the content is determined repeatedly. This iodine product is a whole food, not an extract. The capsule contains the whole seaweed, which, in addition to iodine, also contains traces of other naturally occurring minerals. The seaweed is certified organic based on the water quality and the sustainability of the cultivation techniques. The water is routinely analyzed. A key component of the sustainable cultivation technique is that only the top portion of the seaweed plant is used. The entire plant is not removed, preventing it from failing to grow after two to four years. NB:
The recommended daily allowance for healthy adults is 150 micrograms per day. The maximum safe dose of iodine is 600 micrograms/day from food, fortified foods, and dietary supplements.
If you have thyroid disorders, consult a doctor or therapist before using this product. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to iodine.
In some situations, it may be advisable to gradually increase the dosage to the recommended daily dose. If desired, the capsule can be opened to allow for doses lower than 150 mcg.
