Vitals Elke Dag (Every Day)

Elke Dag Tablets has been the most popular variant within the Elke Dag series for years. This is a one-per-day multi in tablet form, suitable for adults aged 18 and older. It is a carefully designed multi with essential micronutrients and special additions. The product is formulated based on the most recent scientific insights, adjusted to current data regarding nutritional status in the Netherlands and optimal intake levels per nutrient. In the composition, well-absorbable substances and compound forms were chosen as much as possible, in the correct proportions and with the most optimal dosages. Of course, choices had to be made, as only a limited amount fits into a tablet. Elke Dag will easily compare favorably with other multis and is the first choice of many therapists for good reason.

For whom
Elke Dag is specifically designed for adults. Vitals has developed separate multis for children, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or trying to conceive. Adolescents and (young) adults can choose Elke Dag Basis (1 per day) or Elke Dag Capsules (adolescents 1 capsule per day and adults 2 capsules per day). Adults and seniors who want the best of the best choose Elke Dag Platinum (two tablets per day).

B vitamins in optimal forms and dosages
The Elke Dag multis contain ample but responsible amounts of B vitamins. Careful consideration has been given to daily needs and what the average intakes and their lower limits are. This also takes into account the extent to which the body is able to convert the different B vitamins, the latest scientific insights, and safe upper limits.

All formulas also contain the biologically active forms of vitamin B2 (riboflavin-5'-phosphate), B6 (pyridoxal-5'-phosphate), B12 (methyl- and adenosylcobalamin) and folic acid (5-methyltetrahydrofolate glucosamine salt). These are the forms as used by the body and research shows that these have higher bioavailability in the body.

Vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5'-phosphate
Very high doses of vitamin B6 can in incidental cases lead to tingling or numbness in the hands or feet. That is why in the Netherlands a maximum safe upper limit of 21 mg per day for adults is applied for vitamin preparations. The Elke Dag multis remain well below that (maximum 4.2 mg). In addition, only pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (P-5'-P), the biologically active form of vitamin B6, is used, and not pyridoxine-HCl which still needs to be converted in the body. Further research is currently being conducted as to whether the aforementioned incidental side effects only occur with vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxine-HCl and not, or to a lesser extent, with pyridoxal-5'-phosphate. There are indications that only pyridoxine-HCl in high doses is toxic to nerve cells.

Folic acid as 5-methyltetrahydrofolate
Folic acid (pteroylmonoglutamic acid), which is usually used in food supplements for the sake of stability, is a synthetic form that does not occur naturally. In food, it occurs as folate. Folic acid from supplements must be converted by the body into tetrahydrofolate and then into 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF).
The Elke Dag multis use the superior form 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, bound to glucosamine salt (with the brand name Quatrefolic®). This binding with glucosamine salt (from plant source) makes it possible to keep the biologically active form stable and ensures optimal absorbability.

Vitamin B12 as methyl- and adenosylcobalamin
The absorption of vitamin B12 from food is a complex process. Due to the safety of vitamin B12 supplementation and the sometimes difficult absorption of B12 from food and supplements, the Elke Dag multis contain generous dosages, in the biologically active forms methyl- and adenosylcobalamin.

Many other B12 products and multis contain cyanocobalamin, which is a cheaper, synthetic form of vitamin B12 that does not occur naturally and must be converted by the body into the active forms. In this process, the cyanide part is detached from the cobalamin (B12) and this then needs to be cleared by the body.

Usage
Take 1 tablet daily with a meal with water. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. This food supplement is not suitable for children up to and including 10 years of age (legally required statement for products with more than 20 µg of vitamin D per daily dose). Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Please note: The vitamin K in this product makes it unsuitable for concomitant use of coumarin derivatives (anticoagulants such as acenocoumarol and phenprocoumon). These medicines are also called vitamin K antagonists and their effectiveness is reduced by the intake of vitamin K from food and supplements.
