Vitakruid Vitamin K & D baby drops 10ml
Vitamin K & D in recommended dosage
The Health Council recommends an additional 150 mcg of vitamin K for breastfed infants from day 8 up to and including 12 weeks.1 The Health Council recommends an additional 10 mcg of vitamin D all year round up to the age of 4 years.

Immediately after birth, all infants receive 1,000 mcg of vitamin K from the midwife. This dosage is sufficient for the first week; from day 8 until the end of the first 12 weeks, an additional 150 mcg is recommended. Babies are not yet able to produce their own vitamin K during this first phase of life.

A similar principle applies to vitamin D. This vitamin is important for the formation and development of children's skeletons. However, newborns are not yet able to obtain sufficient vitamin D from their diet or sunlight. This is why the Health Council recommends supplementation with both vitamin D and K.

Vitamin D is important for building strong bones in children
The sunshine vitamin is generally known for its importance for health, but this is especially true for young children. A child needs it especially during their developmental stage. Vitamin D is necessary for the normal growth and development of children's bones. Vitamin D's role in this is to improve calcium absorption. This nutrient also supports cell division and plays a role in tissue growth and development. Vitamin D also has a positive effect on children's immune systems. In other words, a vitamin with a broad range of benefits for the very youngest!

Vitamin D3 in the correct dosage for up to 4 years
The Health Council recommends giving children up to 4 years old an additional 10 mcg of vitamin D per day. However, the quality of the vitamin D form can vary considerably. The sunshine vitamin has two forms.

Vitamin D3 is the best form
One is ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and is mainly found in mushrooms. The second is cholecalciferol (vitamin D3); this is the form that humans (and animals) produce themselves under the influence of sunlight. The latter is the most bioavailable form and is therefore best absorbed by our bodies. That's why this is also the form we've included in our Vitamin K & D Baby.

Only one pack needed for the first year!
The Vitamin K & D Baby combo pack includes both a bottle of vitamin D3 and a bottle of vitamin K, specifically for newborns. This is ideal, as the 10ml Baby D bottle will last you almost a year! Thanks to the contents of Baby K, you'll also have everything you need for the first 12 weeks.

After using Vitamin K & D Baby, we recommend switching to Multi Day & Night® Junior.
