Vitakruid Vitamin K baby drops Recommended by the health council and midwives
After birth, all babies are immediately given 1,000 mcg of vitamin K. This is because infants don't have the right gut bacteria to produce vitamin K themselves during the first three months. Moreover, they receive relatively little vitamin K through the placenta and breast milk. Therefore, vitamin K levels are immediately replenished through supplementation.
When and how much?
The dose of vitamin K the baby receives from the midwife after birth is sufficient for the first week. Therefore, from day 8 until the end of month 4, an additional 150 mcg of vitamin K is recommended daily.
- Vitamin K, for the absorption of minerals/calcium in the bones
- Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting
