An inadequate vitamin D balance is more often the rule than the exception due to the scarcity of sunlight in our cold Benelux region. Nevertheless, a balanced diet can be an effective remedy. The forms ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) are found in mushrooms and foods of animal origin, respectively. Mushrooms and animals produce vitamin D in the same way as humans, under the influence of UV radiation (sunlight). The form you consume from animal products (vitamin D3) is even exactly the same vitamin D that our human skin produces, and therefore the most bioavailable form for our human digestive system. Of course, Vitakruid chooses the forms with the highest bioavailability in all its supplements, which is why this product also contains vitamin K2 in the bioavailable form menaquinone 7.
