Vitamin D3: the sunshine vitamin
Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin and is known as the sunshine vitamin.

Our body can produce D3 itself when the skin is exposed to sunlight. In addition, vitamin D3 occurs in small amounts in food, such as fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, anchovies) and in mushrooms (D2) that have been exposed to light. A supplement can be a valuable way to support your vitamin D3 intake.

Why is vitamin D supplementation important?
In the Netherlands, the sun is only strong enough for part of the year to provide the skin with sufficient radiation. As a result, natural production is often limited, and for many people, it is necessary to get extra vitamin D3 from other sources, such as a vitamin D supplement.

Vitamin K2:
Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone, is an important nutrient that supports various processes in the body. There are two different forms of vitamin K, vitamin K1 and K2. Vitamin K1 is mainly found in leafy greens such as spinach, endive, and kale. Vitamin K2 is found in small amounts in animal products such as dairy, eggs, meat, and in fermented foods such as natto (a Japanese soybean preparation).

Vitamin K2 comes in multiple variants, referred to as MK-4 through MK-14. For our Vitamin D3 & K2 softgels, we exclusively choose menaquinone-7 (MK-7). This form of vitamin K2 is the most stable form and the most absorbable. While vitamin K1 remains active in the body for only one to two hours, vitamin K2 MK-7 has a half-life of over 72 hours. This means that this biologically active form has enough time to reach the blood vessels, bones, and other tissues in the body.

Our vitamin K2 is naturally obtained through fermentation with Bacillus subtilis natto. Through careful standardization (10,000 ppm), each softgel contains 40 µg of vitamin K2 MK-7. This ensures a pure and consistent dosage.
