With eight different probiotic strains
In our well-known – and widely applicable – Symflora® formula, we combine no fewer than eight different bacterial strains. Scientific research shows that this combination of different bacterial strains is more effective than a single strain. Think of it like a soccer team where players with different skills help and complement each other. With ten attackers, nobody becomes world champion, right?
Prebiotics
We've also added prebiotics to Symflora® Original, the dietary fibers for the bacteria in our intestines. Prebiotics are found in vegetables, fruits, and grains. These indigestible dietary fibers stimulate the growth of bacterial strains. This contributes to the bacteria's increased survival and metabolic activity in our bodies.
High survival rate in the digestive system
The quality of a probiotic is determined in part by the number of living bacteria that ultimately reach your intestines. As they pass through our gastrointestinal tract, these bacterial strains are exposed to digestive juices like stomach acid and bile. Some probiotics cannot survive the acidity of the stomach, giving them a low survival rate. Symflora®, on the other hand, has a high survival rate.
Probiotic activity more important than the number of colonies
The colony-forming units per gram (CFU/g) in Symflora® remain relatively stable after passing through the gastrointestinal tract. This is evident from research conducted by Winclove Probiotics in collaboration with Maastricht University. This means the bacterial strains pass through the digestive system largely undamaged, and their activity remains intact. The probiotics therefore have a high survival rate and metabolic activity.
The survival rate and metabolic activity are therefore relevant indicators for selecting good probiotics. It's often claimed that the number (CFU/g) is important for a high-quality probiotic, but this isn't entirely true. It's much more important that bacteria actually survive our stomach acid and reach the intestines.
The abbreviation (cfu/g) comes from the English abbreviation (cfu/g), which means colony-forming units per gram. In Dutch, we've changed this to the term "colony-forming units per gram." The germ count or colony-forming units per gram represents the number of probiotic colonies present in one gram of the product. One Symflora® Original capsule contains 6.7 x 108 (cfu/g), which equates to 670 million colony-forming units. Three capsules equal 2 billion probiotic colonies.

ProBioact® technology guarantees the stability, survival, and metabolic activity of the probiotics. Bacteria are fragile. The technology contains nutrients specifically selected to ensure that the probiotics survive the various digestive juices in the gastrointestinal tract and are stable at room temperature.
