Vitakruid Symflora Junior Pre- and Probiotics for children Pre- and probiotics for children between 1 and 12 years old
Each stage of life requires a different probiotic, tailored to the needs of that phase. For Symflora® Junior, probiotic strains were selected based on the needs of children aged 1 year and older. The junior formula can be easily and safely added to water.
What are prebiotics?
Prebiotics are the dietary fibers for the bacteria in our intestines. These indigestible fibers are found in foods like grains, vegetables, and fruits. Prebiotic fibers stimulate the growth and function of bacteria, giving them a better chance of survival in our bodies. In our Symflora® Junior, we've included prebiotics to ensure optimal probiotic activity.
Six tribes with scientific substantiation
Scientific research shows that multi-strain probiotics are more effective than a single-strain probiotic.1 This is comparable to a team of people with diverse backgrounds. Their different qualities allow them to help and complement each other.
Bifidobacteria are dominant in a newborn's gut, but the composition of the microbiome changes over time. During the first three years of life, a child's gut flora reaches a stable state, with the strains of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus being the most prevalent. Therefore, we have chosen a formula with six bacterial strains from these two species in Symflora® Junior.
High survival rate after 24 hours
The quality of a probiotic is determined by how well the bacteria survive the digestive process. During the digestion of food, the bacterial strains are exposed to various digestive juices, such as bile and stomach acid. The acidity of the stomach can prevent some probiotics from surviving, resulting in fewer live bacteria ultimately reaching your intestines.
Probiotic activity more important than KFU/g
Winclove pobiotics, in collaboration with Maastricht University, published a study showing that the (CFU/g) in Symflora® remains relatively constant at the end of the digestive tract. This means that the number of bacterial strains you consume has a high survival rate. They have a higher metabolic activity because they generally remain undamaged after digestion. Metabolic activity, therefore, refers to the level of activity that bacterial strains achieve during the digestion of food without being affected.
When selecting good probiotics, survival and metabolic activity tests are relevant indicators. It's often thought that the number of colony-forming units (CFU/g) is important, but this isn't entirely true. What is the value of a high number (CFU/g) when the bacterial strains don't survive our stomach acid before reaching their final destination?
The abbreviation (cfu/g) comes from the English abbreviation (cfu/g), which means colony-forming units per gram. In Dutch, we've adopted the term "colony-forming units per gram." The germ count or colony-forming units per gram represents the number of probiotic colonies present in one gram of the product. One sachet of Symflora® Junior contains 2 x 108 (cfu/g), which is equivalent to 200 million colony-forming units.
With ProbioAct® technology
ProbioAct® technology contains specially selected nutrients that contribute to the stability, survival, and metabolic activity of the probiotics. This is important because bacteria are fragile. This technology guarantees that the probiotics are stable at room temperature and resistant to the various digestive juices in the digestive system.
Vitamin D in children
The Health Council recommends a daily intake of 10 mcg of vitamin D for children. The junior formula contains 5 mcg of vitamin D, so you already get half of this recommended intake!
Sachet protects against moisture, light and air
We've chosen to package Symflora® Junior in sachets. This offers several advantages over other packaging methods. The sachet ensures the product remains optimally protected from light, air, and moisture.
Furthermore, the probiotics in this product exist only in an inactive state to ensure their shelf life. When the single-celled organisms come into contact with moisture, they become active again.
Vitamin D:
- has a positive effect on the immune system of children
- also helps to ensure good resistance in children
