Quercetin from food is hardly absorbed
Quercetin is a so-called bioflavonoid, a nutrient found in citrus fruits, onions, potatoes, and buckwheat, among other foods. However, we're facing a problem with the substance formerly known as vitamin P. During cooking, 70 to as much as 90 percent of quercetin disappears from our diet.
The 10 to 30 percent that subsequently reaches our digestive system experiences another bottleneck. Quercetin is a nutrient that binds with phytonutrients (antibodies), making its absorption more difficult. Because of the small amount of quercetin that ultimately reaches the cell, supplementation is often recommended.
Less binding with phytonutrients
Fortunately, renowned nutrient manufacturer Indena has found a solution for quercetin's inherently poor absorption. The developer limits the binding of quercetin with phytonutrients by mixing the bioflavonoid with phospholipids (natural building blocks of the cell). Because of the reduced binding with phytonutrients, fewer of these substances reach our cell nucleus.
Quercetin up to 20 times more absorbable thanks to Phytosome® technology
The natural binding of quercetin with phospholipids also creates a homogeneous mixture, which we refer to as phytosomes. The product of this Phytosome® technology bears the patented name Quercefit®. Research shows that Quercefit® is between ten and twenty times more absorbable than regular quercetin!

Most quercetin products contain up to 500 mg of regular quercetin. A dose of 250 mg per capsule may seem low. But as explained, Quercefit® is absorbed ten to twenty times better by our bodies than regular quercetin.
