Vitakruid NAC 600mg N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine A semi-essential amino acid
Normally, our bodies form the semi-essential amino acid cysteine from l-methionine, but many things can go wrong during this conversion process. Moreover, factors such as surgery, diet, rapid growth, or strenuous exercise can cause a semi-essential amino acid to become essential. The rate at which our bodies absorb the amino acid then falls short of meeting our needs. To ensure the body has sufficient cysteine available under such circumstances, supplementation with NAC 600 offers a valuable solution.
Easily absorbed by acetyl
Acetyl is essentially a molecule, so the acetyl group isn't a molecule in itself. We can compare it to an arm or a leg, highly functional within the body as a whole, but useless on their own. Nevertheless, the combination of acetyl and cysteine is highly valuable within our bodies. Three properties of the molecule ensure more efficient passage through the cell membrane.
Acetyl is a lipid-like compound, allowing the intestines to absorb the molecule whole. Furthermore, the acetyl bond protects the molecule from oxidation, which results in rapid cellular diffusion. Subsequently, enzymes present in the cell can rapidly cleave the bond. As a result, the body absorbs n-acetyl-l-cysteine effectively, unlike regular cysteine.
Precursor of Glutathione
Glutathione is a compound of three amino acids (tripeptide), which the body produces from cysteine, glutamine, and glycine. The latter two are readily available through dietary intake, making them non-problematic factors for glutathione formation. Cysteine, on the other hand, is more difficult to obtain from food, making it the limiting factor within this compound. Moreover, cysteine is the active part of the glutathione molecule.
But if glutathione is so important to me, why don't I just take it? Research shows that the body doesn't absorb (reduced) glutathione, or barely absorbs it. The gastrointestinal tract simply destroys the nutrient. Even three-gram doses don't increase glutathione levels in the body. And since our bodies do absorb the acetylated form of cysteine, supplementing with the precursor of glutathione is more effective than ingesting (reduced) glutathione.
Stable in the gastrointestinal tract due to enteric-coated capsule
We offer N-acetyl-L-cysteine in a stomach-resistant capsule. By supplementing this powder in a capsule, the formula remains resistant to moisture and light. Moreover, the gelatin coating makes the N-acetyl-L-cysteine resistant to stomach acid. This allows the powder to reach the gastrointestinal tract without any problems, where the N-acetyl-L-cysteine can fully develop!
