Other producers often use the crystallization method, which is a cheap way of producing MSM. In this process, the MSM is dissolved in water and then dried, which means that the pathogens typically abundant in water also end up in the final product. With this type of methylsulfonylmethane, there is usually no certificate of analysis indicating that the raw material is free of yeast, bacteria, fungi, and heavy metals.
