Vitakruid Magnesium Sport Bisglycinate Malate Tri-DicitrateMagnesium-rich foods
Magnesium is an essential mineral naturally found in many foods. Whole grains, nuts, legumes, green leafy vegetables, and raw cocoa are particularly good sources. Fish and seeds also provide a valuable amount of magnesium.
Magnesium Sport: a magnesium complex developed for athletes
Magnesium Sport is specially developed to support the increased needs of athletes. While most supplements contain only one form of magnesium, this product distinguishes itself with a unique combination of three high-quality variants. This allows magnesium to be absorbed through multiple pathways and made available in the body at different times.
The best forms of magnesium with high bioavailability
The elemental amount of magnesium in a magnesium supplement is often seen as a measure of quality. While this amount is important, the absorbability of magnesium determines its bioavailability—that is, how well the body actually absorbs and utilizes the mineral. For example, magnesium oxide contains a lot of elemental magnesium, but due to its low absorbability, the body can ultimately make little use of it.
The bioavailability of magnesium strongly depends on the form in which it is bound. Inorganic variants are less well absorbed. Organically bound forms, such as magnesium citrate or malate, have better solubility and thus higher absorbability. Amino acid-chelated forms go a step further: because the mineral is bound to amino acids, it remains stable in the stomach and intestines and is optimally utilized by the body. In this complex, we have therefore chosen three high-quality forms: magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium malate, and magnesium tri-dicitrate.
Magnesium bisglycinate
Magnesium bisglycinate is a compound of magnesium with two molecules of the amino acid glycine. Glycine plays a role in the body, among other things, as a neurotransmitter and makes this form of magnesium particularly well absorbable. Bisglycinate is efficiently absorbed via the amino acid pathway, while remaining gentle on the stomach.
Magnesium malate
Magnesium malate is an organic form of magnesium bound to malic acid. This substance occurs naturally in energy metabolism (the citric acid cycle), the process responsible for the formation of ATP – the energy carriers of our body.
Magnesium tri-dicitrate
Magnesium tri-dicitrate distinguishes itself from other magnesium compounds by combining a relatively high elemental magnesium content (approximately 16%) with high bioavailability. While inorganic forms like magnesium oxide contain a lot of elemental magnesium but are poorly absorbed, tri-dicitrate delivers an effective dose that is well utilized by the body.
Support from different perspectives
With vitamin B6 and vitamin B12
Vitamins B6 and B12 have been added to optimally support the action of magnesium. For Magnesium Sport, pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P) and adenosylcobalamin have been chosen – the biologically active forms of vitamins B6 and B12. These variants have high bioavailability and are therefore directly utilized by the body. Moreover, P-5-P is considered the safest form of vitamin B6.
L-taurine for a synergistic effect
L-taurine is an amino acid-like substance naturally found in meat, fish, and shellfish. L-taurine and magnesium have a synergistic effect, where L-taurine ensures more efficient absorption of magnesium in the body.
Zinc bisglycinate – highly absorbable form of zinc
In athletes, zinc reserves are depleted more quickly, making sufficient zinc extra important. Therefore, this formula opts for zinc bisglycinate: an amino acid-chelated form with high bioavailability.
