Vitakruid Magnesium 200 citrate While magnesium alate is bound to malic acid, magnesium citrate has citric acid as its binding agent. Both acids are part of the so-called citric acid cycle. This biochemical system guarantees the majority of the energy our body produces in its cells. Moreover, research shows that our muscle tissue absorbs magnesium citrate relatively well compared to other magnesium compounds.
Affordable and easily absorbed
Magnesium citrate is therefore similar in effect to magnesium malate. The main difference, however, is that magnesium citrate is not a chelated form. This makes it less stable in the gastrointestinal tract. So why would you consider this option? The answer is relatively simple: magnesium citrate is simply cheaper to purchase than magnesium malate. That's why we can offer you Magnesium 200 Citrate at a lower price than Magnesium Malate. The choice for citrate may therefore be purely budget-related.
User-friendly due to tablet form
We also offer Magnesium Malate in powder form and Magnesium 200 Citrate in tablet form. Most people find tablet supplementation user-friendly; there's no fiddling with water, stirring, or mixing. So, if you prefer tablet supplementation, we recommend Magnesium 200 Citrate!
Organic form
Magnesium citrate, taurate, bisglycinate, and malate are organically bound forms of magnesium. Inorganic forms of magnesium, such as magnesium chloride, magnesium hydroxide, and magnesium sulfate, are less bioavailable and therefore less well absorbed by the body. For example, magnesium sulfate has a bioavailability of only 4%. This means that a dose of 200 mg of magnesium sulfate is only effective for a mere 8 mg.
Our daily diet generally contains inorganically bound magnesium. These are the forms found in the soil and absorbed by the plants we eat daily. Examples include magnesium sulfate and magnesium carbonate. Therefore, our bodies absorb only a small portion of the magnesium we ingest from regular food. Therefore, supplementing with an organically bound form of magnesium often adds value to your diet!
