Vitakruid L-Lysine 1000mg with vitamin C L-Lysine is an essential amino acid and precursor of l-carnitine
L-lysine is considered an essential amino acid, meaning our bodies cannot produce it from other amino acids. Therefore, we rely entirely on dietary intake for adequate l-lysine levels. This can be a problem, especially for vegetarians and vegans. This essential amino acid is primarily found in animal proteins; meat and dairy are the primary sources. So, if you follow a lifestyle with little to no animal products, l-lysine supplementation can be a valuable addition to your diet!
Moreover, l-lysine is the direct precursor of the semi-essential amino acid l-carnitine, meaning our bodies can only partially produce the nutrient from food. L-carnitine is also primarily found in animal products, making meat and dairy consumers susceptible to deficient levels.
Highly bioavailable form of l-lysine
As the name suggests, we use only the l-structural form of lysine for L-Lysine 1000. From a biochemical perspective, this multifunctional amino acid exists in two forms: the l-structural form and the d-structural form. The body recognizes only the l-structural form (levorotatory form) as natural. The reversed form, the d-form, does not occur in living organisms and is therefore considered synthetic. The l-structural form guarantees that our l-lysine is 100% natural and also offers the highest bioavailability.
A high dosage of 1000 mg per tablet
Besides the quality of the nutrient, the dosage is also important. A higher dosage simply provides more active ingredients and therefore a greater effect. Most L-lysine supplements contain between 250 and 500 mg per tablet. Research shows that these dosages are too low for sufficient effect. That's why our L-Lysine 1000 contains a whopping 500 mg of extract per capsule, and we recommend taking up to two capsules per day; a well-founded dosage!
Addition of vitamin C
However, an insurmountable problem with this nutrient is that we are unable to produce it ourselves. This means we are completely dependent on our diet for adequate vitamin C levels. Taking a good supplement can be a welcome addition. Moreover, vitamin C improves the absorption of L-lysine.
User-friendly due to tablet form
We also offer L-Lysine 1000 mg in tablet form. Most people find tablet supplementation user-friendly; there's no fiddling with water, stirring, or mixing. So, if you prefer tablet supplementation, L-Lysine 1000 mg is an excellent choice!
