Vitakruid Ester-C Vitamin C 1000 Flavonoids RosehipThe de-acidified form of vitamin C
Ascorbic acid is by far the best-known form of vitamin C. It is also the variant that occurs naturally in our diet. Oranges, broccoli, and apples; the vitamin C in these foods are all classified as ascorbic acid.
Calcium ascorbate bound to threonine acid
Nevertheless, this is a form that we classify as acidic, so supplementation in high doses can result in stomach and intestinal discomfort. When there is a high need for vitamin C, Ester C 1000 is a better option. Ester C is calcium ascorbate bound to threonine acid; de-acidified and therefore extremely friendly to the stomach and intestines!
Ester-C® is a patented form
Patented means that other developers are not allowed to simply develop a calcium ascorbate bound to threonine acid. The binding to threonine acid has added value within this compound because it is a so-called vitamin C metabolite. Our body naturally converts vitamin C into metabolites, but in this process, a large part of the immune vitamin is lost. By binding the calcium ascorbate to a metabolite, our system absorbs vitamin C directly, without having to go through wasteful processes. Threonine acid also has the property of mobilizing vitamin C from body stores, which gives Ester-C a twofold advantage over other ascorbates!
Citrus bioflavonoids for better absorption of vitamin C
Bioflavonoids are plant nutrients also known as vitamin P. Citrus bioflavonoids are found, among other things, in the soft white part under the peel of citrus fruits. Unfortunately, during cooking, 70 to as much as 90 percent of vitamin P disappears from our food. Supplementation is therefore far from an unnecessary luxury.
Research also shows that vitamin P ensures 35 percent better absorption of vitamin C. Citrus bioflavonoids also ensure slower absorption of ascorbic acid and reduced excretion via urine. Better absorption and higher bioavailability were the pillars for adding vitamin P to the Ester-C supplement!
Rosehip extract
Rosehip is the fruit of our well-known flower of love: the rose. Rosehip itself contains vitamin C, for this extract this amounts to no less than 45 percent.
