Vitakruid Ester-C Vitamin C 1000 Flavonoids Rosehip The deacidified form of vitamin C
Ascorbic acid is by far the most well-known form of vitamin C. It's also the one naturally found in our diet. Oranges, broccoli, and apples—the vitamin C in these foods is all considered ascorbic acid.
Calcium ascorbate bound to threonic acid
However, this form is classified as acidic, meaning supplementation in high doses can cause gastrointestinal discomfort. For high vitamin C needs, Ester C 1000 is a better option. Ester C is calcium ascorbate bound to threonic acid; it deacidifies and is therefore extremely gentle on the stomach and intestines!
Ester-C® is a patented form
Patented means that other developers are not allowed to simply develop calcium ascorbate bound to threonic acid. The binding to threonic acid adds value to this compound because it is a vitamin C metabolite. Our body naturally converts vitamin C into metabolites, but a large portion of the immune-boosting vitamin is lost in this process. By binding the calcium ascorbate to a metabolite, our system absorbs the vitamin C directly, without having to go through waste processes. Threonic acid also has the property of mobilizing vitamin C from body stores, giving Ester-C a twofold advantage over other ascorbates!
Citrus bioflavonoids for better vitamin C absorption
Bioflavonoids are plant-based nutrients also known as vitamin P. Citrus bioflavonoids are found, among other places, in the soft white part beneath the peel of citrus fruits. Unfortunately, 70 to as much as 90 percent of vitamin P is lost from our diet during cooking. Therefore, supplementation is far from unnecessary.
Research also shows that vitamin P improves vitamin C absorption by 35 percent. Citrus bioflavonoids also slow the absorption of ascorbic acid and reduce urinary excretion. Improved absorption and increased bioavailability were the cornerstones of adding vitamin P to the Ester-C supplement!
Rosehip extract
Rosehip is the fruit of our beloved flower: the rose. Rosehip itself contains vitamin C, and this extract contains a whopping 45 percent.
