Biotin from food

Biotin consists of two chemical compounds that are mirror images of each other, namely D-biotin and L-biotin.

Although L-biotin has the same chemical formula as D-biotin, it is not used or absorbed by the body in the same way. L-biotin must undergo several conversion processes before it can be actively used in the body.
