Vitakruid Astaxanthin Astapure 4mg sustainably cultivated algaeKing of the carotenoids
Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants nature has to offer. The substance is produced by algae, plankton and various micro-organisms. Astaxanthin belongs to the carotenoids, natural pigments responsible for the yellow, orange and red colour in fruits and vegetables.
The richest natural source of astaxanthin is Haematococcus pluvialis, also known as blood rain algae due to its deep red colour. Animals that eat these algae therefore acquire a distinctive pink-red colour. Examples include salmon, lobster, crab, trout and shrimp. Some birds also ingest this pigment, such as the flamingo.
Important role in nature
Algae produce astaxanthin to protect themselves against stressful conditions such as drought and sunlight in summer. This enables the algae to protect their DNA, allowing them to grow again under better conditions.
Moreover, astaxanthin is known to help salmon swim up to 3,000 kilometres upstream. In birds, high concentrations of astaxanthin are found in the eyes.
100% naturally produced
For our product, we have chosen AstaPure®, the most sustainable astaxanthin in the world. AstaPure® is produced under natural conditions at a GMP-certified facility in the Arava Desert in Israel. Thanks to its stable climate, this region has abundant sunlight, clean air and is free of pollutants all year round. Furthermore, the remote location in the desert means that algae cultivation does not displace crops.
Completely sustainable production process
The entire production takes place using solar energy. Moreover, underground seawater is used during the production process, eliminating the need for drinking water. This water is then recycled by 80%. The AstaPure® production process is therefore completely sustainable.
Green and red phase
Production takes place in two phases that mimic the accumulation of astaxanthin in nature. In the green phase, the algae enjoy optimal natural growth conditions, allowing them to grow to their maximum potential. In the red phase, the algae are exposed to harsh conditions, causing them to produce astaxanthin as a defence mechanism.
Highest purity astaxanthin
AstaPure® is produced from the algae Haematococcus pluvialis, which contains the most concentrated natural form of astaxanthin. In combination with production at the remote location in the Arava Desert, this ensures the highest purity of astaxanthin, namely 95% of the total number of carotenoids extracted from the algae.
NAXA® & USDA® certified
Our Astaxanthin is free from plastics, environmental pollutants, synthetic preservatives and heavy metals. Moreover, CO2 extraction technology eliminates the need for solvents during the production process. Our Astaxanthin is therefore NAXA® & USDA® certified.
Claims
Astaxanthin can be used for anti-aging by reducing the visible signs of aging. The carotenoid can also be used for the appearance of the skin. Astaxanthin helps maintain the elasticity and softness of the skin, thereby contributing to natural skin rejuvenation.
