An ovulation test measures a certain hormone that is released when your body is ready to produce an egg. If you test positive, you know for sure that your ovulation is approaching and you are in your fertile window. An ovulation test therefore helps you get pregnant more easily.

What makes the Testjezelf.nu Ovulation Test unique?

The test was specially developed for clinics and hospitals specializing in couples who remain involuntarily childless. This is why the test is 100% sensitive to LH (the hormone released when your fertile period begins).

These tests have been supplied to hospitals and doctors in more than 80 countries for over 10 years. Since 2007, the test has also been available to consumers in a package containing 7 individual tests. With this extra sensitive ovulation test, the chance of getting pregnant naturally is highest.

Is this ovulation test easy to use?
By collecting a small amount of urine for a few days (preferably at a fixed time) and performing the test, you will know if your ovulation is approaching. When it is best to start testing is very clearly described in the leaflet with an example and a table.

The tests come with a pipette. This is very important because it ensures you always perform the test correctly. You always test or measure with the correct amount of urine. You collect the urine and add 5 to 7 drops to the test. The cassette ovulation test is many times more reliable than the dipstick or strip tests that are sometimes offered. These dipstick tests are unsuitable for home use because you can never apply the same amount of urine when using such a strip. This means that the course of your LH curve cannot be measured accurately.

Compared to the midstream ovulation test (which you hold in your urine stream), the Testjezelf.nu cassette ovulation test is also a more reliable test. The extra step of first collecting the urine does not outweigh the certainty that you always test correctly and obtain a more reliable result.

With this ovulation test, you will have the result within 5 minutes. If the test line has the same color as the control line, your ovulation will occur within 24 to 36 hours and you will be fertile. Sometimes the test line may remain slightly lighter if you have not added enough urine or have drunk too much before testing. The result is still positive.

How reliable is an ovulation test?
An Ovulation test is the most reliable way to determine your fertile period. Other methods (e.g., temperature tracking) are not nearly as reliable. The tests are CE certified and, of course, come with a comprehensive Dutch manual that ensures error-free testing.
Incidentally, we advise against the use of saliva tests to test your ovulation. We have been asked to act as a distributor of these products for several years, but internal checks have led us to decide not to pursue this. The fern test or saliva test for your ovulation is not reliable.

Can I use an ovulation test even with an irregular cycle?
No problem, the manual thoroughly describes how and when you can start testing. Sometimes (especially if you have been on the pill for a while) your cycle is irregular. Usage
Home test to determine the most fertile days

Instructions for use
The first test day (out of a total of 7 days to be tested) is determined based on the previously observed length of your ovulation cycle. The first day is taken as the day on which your first bleeding (menstruation) occurs. The table below shows the relevant and corresponding first test day (start of the test) for different ovulation cycles. Cycle in days 1st. Test day 26 10th Cycle day 27 10th Cycle day 28 11th Cycle day 29 11th Cycle day 30 12th Cycle day 31 12th Cycle day 32 13th Cycle day 33 13th Cycle day For shorter or longer or irregular cycles, it is best to determine the optimal starting time for the test in consultation with your doctor. For irregular cycles, an extension of the test duration may be advisable. 1) Test preparation • If the test has been stored in the refrigerator, allow it to come to room temperature first. • Have a clean (free of soap residue or dish soap) and dry plastic cup or glass and a watch or stopwatch ready. For each test day, there is an Ovulation Test Cassette (7 in total) including a pipette available. 2) Collecting urine The urine to be collected should be collected at the same time each day. Do not use morning urine for this, as it has become too concentrated overnight and can give an incorrect test result. Do not consume excessive amounts of drink or liquid from 3 hours before the test, as this can lead to excessive dilution of the urine. If desired, urine can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, chilled urine must absolutely be brought to room temperature before using the test! 3) Performing the test • Read the leaflet carefully first. • Tear open the foil and remove the cassette and plastic pipette from the packaging. Place the cassette on a flat surface. The opened test must be used immediately. Result window Test window • Take some urine with the pipette and drop 5 drops into the round test window. You will see the light pink liquid slowly move towards the result window. • Wait exactly 5 minutes. Within this time, you will see 1 or 2 red lines appear in the Result window. • Then immediately read the result and record it along with the date and time of testing in the table shown on page 2 of this leaflet. 4) Evaluation of the test The red lines in the Result window under the designations "T" (Test line) and "C" (Control line) are evaluated. The brightness of the Test line (light or dark red) depends on the LH concentration. Over time, it will darken, and it is therefore important to observe the reading time of 5 minutes.
