In this family, flowers are greatly reduced and small, and grow closely together in a flower head. Dandelions are very common. In April, they can turn entire meadows yellow. However, this does not mean that certain micro-species and sections cannot be rare.
The dandelion is native to Africa, Asia, and Europe and has been spread by humans to many other places. In the Netherlands, at least 250 micro-species are known.
