Noni (Morinda citrifolia) is a plant in the Rubiaceae family.
It is a shrub or evergreen, deeply branched tree with square branches, growing up to 6 m tall.
The fruits, up to 15 cm large, are oval and usually not evenly developed.
The bark and roots contain a red dye and heated or withered leaves are used externally.
The noni is also widely used as an ornamental plant and is cultivated in tropical areas worldwide.
This plant is originally from Southeast Asia and was brought to the Polynesian Islands by emigrants from that area around the first century AD.
