FoodState Zinc with Copper
FoodState Zinc & Copper combines zinc with copper to prevent a possible copper deficiency after prolonged use. Zinc and copper compete with each other for absorption, and an excess of zinc can ultimately lead to a copper deficiency. Each tablet contains 15 mg of zinc and 1 mg of copper. FoodState Zinc & Copper is offered to the body in a complete form, including all amino acids and nutrient carriers from the probiotic.
After iron, zinc is the most abundant trace mineral in the body, present in all tissues.
Best Natural Sources
The zinc content of the food we eat is negatively affected by soil depletion and food processing. The best sources of all trace elements in the correct balance are natural, unprocessed foods. Diets rich in protein, whole grains, brewer's yeast, wheat bran, wheat germ, herring, and pumpkin seeds typically contain high amounts of zinc.
Absorption and Storage
Zinc is easily absorbed in the duodenum and small intestine. The body absorbs only as much as needed at a given time. The rest is not absorbed. Approximately 6 mg per day is also lost. Absorption decreases when large amounts of calcium are consumed. Zinc, cadmium, silver, and copper compete with each other for absorption in the small intestine. Too much fiber prevents zinc utilization because zinc binds with the fiber and is carried away before it can be absorbed. The largest zinc stores are found in the liver, pancreas, kidneys, bones, and voluntary muscles. A high intake of calcium and phytates, found in certain grains, can hinder zinc absorption.
This formula is hypoallergenic and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
