Taking a probiotic supplement with as many different bacterial strains as possible makes sense because of the diversity of the microbial ecosystem in the digestive tract.
The human gut microbiome is ultimately made up of a wide variety of bacteria, each of which has unique functions and benefits.
By taking a supplement with a wide variety of different strains, one can aim for a broader representation of bacteria, which is also the case in the intestines.
Our logic is that a diverse probiotic can provide more holistic support to the complex ecosystem of the gut.
Microbiol 24 contains no fewer than 24 different bacterial cultures:
Bifidobacterium longum: is one of the many species of bacteria belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium, which is an important component of the human gut microbiota. This bacterium naturally occurs in the intestines and plays a crucial role.
- Lactobacillus crispatus: a species of bacteria belonging to the genus Lactobacillus, an important component of the natural microbiota in the human body, especially in the urogenital system of women.
- Lactobacillus gasseri: like other lactobacilli, Lactobacillus gasseri is a probiotic bacterium
- Bifidobacterium bifidum: a species of bacteria belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium, a group of probiotic bacteria that naturally occur in the human gastrointestinal tract.
- Lactobacillus plantarum: this bacterial strain is also common in fermented foods
- Lactobacillus helveticus: belongs to the genus Lactobacillus, a group of lactic acid bacteria that occur naturally in the gastrointestinal tract and are often used in the preparation of natural foods
- Lactobacillus johnsonii: a species of bacteria belonging to the genus Lactobacillus that occurs naturally in the human gastrointestinal tract
- Lactobacillus salivarius: This strain of bacteria is known to be found primarily in the oral cavity, but it can also occur in other parts of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Bifidobacterium lactis: one of the most important bacteria in the intestinal microbiota.
- Lactobacillus fermentum: belongs to the natural intestinal microbiota
- Bifidobacterium breve: a friendly bacterium that naturally lives in your intestines
- Lactococcus lactis: a species of bacteria known for its role in the production of various fermented dairy products, such as cheese and yogurt, without containing lactose itself.
- Lactobacillus bulgaricus: was first discovered, described, and studied by the Bulgarian physician and microbiologist Stamen Grigorov in the early 20th century.
- Lactobacillus reuteri: is naturally part of the human intestinal microbiota and is considered a probiotic bacterium.
- Lactobacillus casei: also a probiotic bacterium that is part of a healthy human gut microbiota
- Bifidobacterium adolescentis: does not refer to the life stage of human adolescence, but rather to the conditions in which the bacterium is commonly found and is part of the human gut microbiota
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus: is included in this probiotic supplement due to extensive studies
- Bifidobacterium animalis: This species of bacteria was first found in the digestive tract of animals (hence the name) but it turns out that this species is also part of the human gut microbiota.
- Lactobacillus paracasei: like several of the above-mentioned bacterial strains, it is a probiotic intestinal culture.
- Streptococcus thermophilus: also a bacterium often used in the production of fermented dairy products, such as yoghurt.
- Lactobacillus acidophilus: a bacterial culture that plays a role in the breakdown of lactose.
- Lactobacillus brevic: is often used in the food industry for its fermentation properties, particularly in the production of fermented vegetables and some fermented drinks.
- Bifidobacterium infantis: one of the natural inhabitants of the intestinal microbiome, especially in infants, hence the name.
Leuconostoc mesenteroides: known for its involvement in fermentation processes. It plays an essential role in the fermentation of foods, including vegetables, dairy products, and some meat products.
For now, from the above bacterial strains, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium infantic and Lactobacillus reuteri are the best researched strains with astonishing results.
