This is where the Nasanita® Nasal Butterfly helps: it is inserted into the nasal vestibule to stabilise the nasal alae from the inside and to widen the nasal valves. Directions for use
Rinse the Nasenschmetterling® thoroughly with warm running water before using it for the first time. Then dry it carefully!

... before each use:
Before each use, you should check the Nasenschmetterling® to ensure it is complete and intact. Only use Nasenschmetterling® products that are in good condition.
Prepare your nose by blowing it thoroughly.

The nasal butterfly is inserted into the nasal vestibule to stabilise the nasal alae from the inside and to widen the nasal valves.

How to use the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling®
For the first use, the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® should be kept in its existing shape and inserted into the nose unchanged. It is best to have your doctor show you how to do this: Hold the Nasenschmetterling® with the U-shaped titanium bracket facing away from you. Open the silicone wings with your thumb and forefinger and insert them into the nostrils, as shown. Once the silicone wings are in the nostrils, push the middle of the silicone wings into the nose, as far as possible towards the tip of the nose.

How your Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® fits well
The Nasenschmetterling® fits well in the nose if the open side of the U-shaped titanium bracket points towards the tip of the nose, the bracket lies flat against the bottom of the nasal septum (columella) and the edges of the two silicone wings reach precisely to the nasal rim.

The Nasenschmetterling® does not fit well...
... if the U-shaped titanium bracket does not lie flat against the columella and the silicone wings protrude over the nasal alae, or are pushed over the nasal valve into the nose. In that case, the Nasenschmetterling® will not improve nasal breathing.

For hygienic reasons, ensure that each family member uses their own Nasanita Nasenschmetterling®. Always keep the product out of reach of children, as small children could accidentally swallow the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling®.

Thanks to its high-quality materials, the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® is comparatively durable. Nevertheless, it should be replaced regularly. With frequent use, we recommend not using the aid for longer than 6 months before replacing it.

Before and after each use, the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® should be thoroughly cleaned with warm, running water. Stubborn traces of discharge should be removed mechanically with a brush or by, for example, rubbing.
Important: Do not forget to dry the product with a lint-free cloth!

Normally, it is not necessary to sterilise or disinfect the aid. However, if you wish to sterilise or disinfect the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling®, use standard heating procedures (e.g. boiling or autoclaving) or disinfectants that can usually be used on the skin and mucous membranes.

When the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® is not in use, you should store it hygienically and safely in the practical Nasanita® box.
Leave the box open until your Nasenschmetterling® is completely dry.

Warnings
You must not bend the titanium bracket!

In any case, the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® should not be used in an injured nose or with strong, watery nasal secretions.
If possible, do not use other products (e.g. a nasal spray or nasal ointment) simultaneously with the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® in the nose, as this could adversely affect the durability and fit of your Nasenschmetterling®.

Important: If the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® is used as part of nocturnal non-invasive ventilation therapy, no so-called full-face masks should be worn, but only nasal masks!

Side effects
When inserting the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® into the nose, you may initially feel a slight pressure or tension. Normally, this feeling or discomfort disappears very quickly. In rare cases, however, the following side effects have been observed when using the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling®: irritations such as a tingling and burning sensation in the nasal vestibule with increased discharge, slight pressure sores, incipient ulcers and acute nosebleeds. If these side effects occur, it may be useful to change the basic setting of the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling®. In that case, contact your doctor or a competent healthcare professional.

Keep out of reach of children.

The Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® is available in a universal size that is suitable for all nose shapes and sizes. It is designed to ensure optimal stabilisation.
Because the anatomical structure of the nose can differ from person to person, we recommend that you have your Nasenschmetterling® fitted by a doctor or a competent healthcare professional the first time. Adjustments should only be made when the Nasenschmetterling® is in place in the nose. This prevents the bridge from being deformed, which could impair the stabilising effect of the Nasenschmetterling®. If you are in doubt about whether you are using the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® correctly or if you are not sure whether it is properly adjusted, have your doctor or a competent healthcare professional check how you are using it. If the Nasenschmetterling® is not properly adjusted, it may not work completely well or it may not fit well.
After the Nasanita Nasenschmetterling® has been personally adjusted to you, its shape should remain unchanged.
