The Auricularia mushroom owes its German name 'Judas's Ear' to a Christian legend. According to this legend, Judas hanged himself from an elder tree, the type of tree on which Auricularia often grows. The combination of this legend with the ear-shaped fruiting bodies gave rise to the name 'Judas's Ear'. This Mycopower mushroom is a vegetarian and gluten-free food supplement and carries the European ECO BIO quality mark. Auricularia is available from Mycopower as loose powder, powder capsules, and extract capsules.
The Chinese Morel, also known as Tree Ear or Judas's Ear, is a mushroom that has been successfully used for over 2000 years. In Europe and the Orient, its use has been mentioned in old herbal books for hundreds of years. Auricularia auricula-judae mainly grows on deciduous trees. As mentioned earlier, this mushroom thrives especially on elder wood. Auricularia mainly feeds on the dead wood of still living trees. Judas's Ear is an indigenous mushroom in almost all of Europe and grows almost all year round in the wild due to its frost resistance. The mushroom grows scattered all over the world.
In Mycotherapy, the ingredients of the mushroom and their effects are very important. The Auricularia mushroom is known for its positive effect on circulation and cholesterol levels. The polysaccharides, including Beta-D-glucan acidic heteropolysaccharide, are responsible for numerous health-promoting effects. The minerals iron, calcium, potassium, and silicon are also worth mentioning. Auricularia also contains vitamin B1 (thiamine).
