Measuring body temperature

Instructions for use
Turning on the thermometer To turn on the thermometer, press the ON/OFF button 1; a short beep indicates that the thermometer is switched on. A display test is performed. All functions are displayed. The last measurement will automatically be shown on display 2 for 2 seconds with the «M» symbol. At a room temperature of less than 32 °C, the symbol «L» first appears on the display, then the symbol «°C» flashes on the display 2. The thermometer is now ready for use. Function test The operation of the thermometer is automatically tested every time it is switched on. If a defect is detected (inaccurate measurement), this is indicated by «ERR» on the display, and measurement is then no longer possible. In this case, the thermometer must be replaced. Using the thermometer Choose the desired measurement method. During measurement, the current temperature is continuously displayed and the «°C» symbol flashes. If a beep sounds 10 times and the «°C» no longer flashes, the temperature has been measured and can be read. If the temperature is higher than 37.5 °C, 10 beeps will sound to alert the patient that they may have a fever. Reference: Oral temperature measurement. To compare measurement results, you should measure at intervals of at least 1 minute. To extend battery life, you can turn off the thermometer by briefly pressing the ON/OFF button 1. Otherwise, the thermometer will automatically switch off after approximately 10 minutes. Measurement methods / Normal body temperature  Under the armpit (axillary) / 34.7 - 37.3 °C Pat the armpits dry with a towel. Place the measurement sensor 4 under the arm in the middle of the armpit, so that the tip touches the skin and place the arm next to the body. This ensures that the room temperature does not affect the measurement, as the armpit needs more time to reach a temperature. Wait 5 minutes, regardless of the beep.  In the mouth (oral) / 35.5 - 37.5 °C Do not eat or drink anything hot or cold 10 minutes before the measurement. The mouth should remain closed until 2 minutes before starting the measurement. Place the thermometer under the tongue, to the left or right of the frenulum. The tip of the thermometer must have good contact with the tissue 4. Close the mouth and breathe evenly through the nose to prevent the measurement from being affected by mouth breathing. If this is not possible due to blocked airways, a different measurement method should be used. Measurement time approx.: 10 seconds!  In the anus (rectal) / 36.6 - 38.0 °C Carefully insert the measurement sensor of the thermometer 4 2 to 3 cm into the anal opening. The use of a protective cap and petroleum jelly is recommended. If you are unsure about this measurement method, consult a professional for guidance / training. Measurement time approx.: 10 seconds! Cleaning and disinfection For disinfection in a home environment, use a cotton swab moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol or a cotton cloth moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol to wipe dirt from the thermometer probe (note: consider the application and safety instructions of the disinfectant manufacturer). Always start wiping from the end of the thermometer probe (approximately in the middle of the thermometer) towards the thermometer tip. Then, the entire thermometer probe (see number 5 in the drawing) should be immersed in 70% isopropyl alcohol for at least 70% 5 minutes (max. 24 hours). After immersion, allow the disinfectant to dry for 1 minute before the next use. Do not immerse or wipe the screen to prevent fading. The thermometer is not intended for professional use. When the symbol «» appears on the display, the battery is empty and must be replaced. To replace the battery, the cover of the battery compartment must be removed 3. Insert a new battery with the + on top. Make sure you have a battery of the same type handy. Batteries can be bought in almost all electronics stores.

- This device may only be used for measuring human body temperature via oral, rectal, or axillary means.
Do not attempt to take temperatures at other sites, such as in the ear, as this may lead to inaccurate readings and injury.
- Do not use this device if you suspect it is damaged or if you have noticed anything unusual.
- We recommend cleaning this device according to the cleaning instructions before first use for personal hygiene.
- The measurement time until the acoustic signal must be adhered to without exception!
- Please note that for different measurement locations, even after the beep, multiple measurements may be necessary
- Do not attempt rectal measurements on individuals with rectal disorders. This may worsen the condition.
- Allow children to use the device only under adult supervision. Small parts can be swallowed. Be aware of the risk of entanglement if the device is equipped with cables or tubes.
- Do not use the device near strong electromagnetic fields such as mobile phones or radio installations. Maintain a distance of at least 3.3 meters from such devices when operating this device.
- Protect the instrument from shocks and drops!
- Do not bend the thermometer probe more than 45°!
- Avoid ambient temperatures above 60 °C. NEVER boil the instrument!
- Use only the disinfectants listed in the Cleaning and Disinfection section to clean the device to prevent damage to the device.
- We recommend having this device checked for accuracy every two years or after mechanical impact (e.g., dropping). Contact your local Microlife dealer for this.

WARNING: The temperature measured with this device is not a diagnosis! Therefore, do not rely solely on the measured result.

Storage advice
Batteries and electronic instruments must be disposed of according to local regulations, not with household waste. Store at a temperature between -25°C and 60°C

This device has a lifetime warranty from the date of purchase.
During this warranty period, Microlife will repair or replace the defective product free of charge.
Opening or modifying the device invalidates the warranty.
