The Microlife thermometer is intended for measuring and monitoring human body temperature.
Instructions for use
Taking temperature with this thermometer
The thermometer measures the infrared radiation emitted by the forehead or other objects. This energy is collected by the lens and converted into a temperature value.
Control screen and symbols
All symbols appear 9: Press the START/IO button to activate the thermometer, all symbols will appear on the screen for 1 second.
Ready for measurement AT: When the thermometer is ready for measurement, the «°C» or «°F» symbol will continue to flash, while the body or object symbol is permanently displayed.
Countdown for measurement BR: A 3-second countdown is shown on the display (3, 2, 1) before each measurement.
Measurement completed AK: The measurement will be shown on display 4 while both the ear or forehead symbol and the «°C» or «°F» symbol are permanently displayed.
Once the «°C» or «°F» symbol flashes again, the device is ready for the next measurement
Low battery AN: If the thermometer is switched on, the icon will continue to flash to remind you to replace the batteries.
Setting date, time and beeper functions
Setting the date and time
After the batteries are inserted, the year flashes on the display BO. You can set the year by pressing the M button 5. To confirm and then set the month, press the MODE button 6.
Now you can set the month with the M button 5. Press the MODE button 6 to confirm and then set the day.
Follow the instructions as described above to set the day, hours and minutes.
Once you have set the minutes and pressed the START/IO button 7, the date and time are set and the time is displayed.
If no button is pressed for 20 seconds, the thermometer automatically switches to the ready for use state AT.
End time set-up: Press the START/IO button 7 during time set-up. The LCD screen will show Date/time symbol with «--:--». Then press the START/IO button 7 to start the measurement. If you do nothing further, the thermometer will automatically switch off after 30 seconds.
Change current date and time: Press and hold the MODE button 6 for 8 seconds, so that the year starts flashing BO. Now you can enter the new data as described above.
Beeper setting
Press and hold the MODE button 6 for 3 seconds to set the beeper BP.
Press the M button 5 to turn the beeper on or off. The beeper is activated when the sound symbol BP is shown without a cross.
When the beeper setting is chosen, press the START/IO button 7 for the «ready for measurement» mode; otherwise, the device will automatically be ready for measurement after 10 seconds.
Switching from body mode to object mode
Press the START/IO button 7. All symbols appear on screen 4 for 1 second.
The default mode is object mode AL. Press the MODE button 6 to switch modes AM. To switch back to body mode, press the MODE button again.
Instructions for use
Always remove the protective cap BS before use.
Measuring in body mode with automatic measurement and distance control
1. Press the START/IO button 7. All symbols appear on screen 4 for 1 second.
2. A flashing «°C»/«°F» symbol, a blue flashing tracking light 2, and a beep indicate that the device is ready for a measurement AT.
3. Remove hair, sweat, or dirt from the forehead to prevent inaccurate readings.
4. Aim the thermometer at the center of the forehead, keeping a distance of no more than 5 cm from the forehead.
5. The device will start automatically when the measurement sensor 1 detects the required distance of less than 5 cm. The display will show a countdown (3, 2, 1); after 3 seconds, a long beep will indicate that the measurement is complete.
6. Self-measurement: The self-measurement light 3 will help indicate when the measurement starts. Keep the thermometer aimed at the forehead until the light turns off.
7. Read the measured temperature from the LCD display.
8. For a subsequent measurement, move the thermometer away from the forehead and wait until the «°C»/«°F» symbol flashes again. Then proceed with step 4 - 5 above.
9. Press and hold the START/IO button 7 for 3 seconds to turn it off; otherwise, the device will automatically turn off after 60 seconds.
Measuring in object mode without automatic measurement 1. Press the START/IO button 7. All symbols appear on screen 4 for 1 second.
2. Press the MODE button 6 to switch to object mode.
3. A flashing «°C»/«°F» symbol, a blue flashing tracking light 2, and a beep indicate that the device is ready for a measurement AT.
4. Aim the thermometer at the center of the object you want to measure, at a distance of no more than 5 cm. Now press the START/IO button 7. After 3 seconds, a long beep will indicate that the measurement is complete.
5. Read the measured temperature from the LCD display.
6. For a subsequent measurement, wait until the «°C»/«°F» symbol flashes again. Then proceed with step 4 - 5 above.
7. Press and hold the START/IO button 7 for 3 seconds to turn it off; otherwise, the device will automatically turn off after 60 seconds.
Patients and thermometer must remain in a room with a constant temperature for at least 30 minutes.
Do not measure during or immediately after feeding a baby.
Do not use the thermometer in rooms with excessively high humidity.
Patients should not drink, eat, or exercise before/during measurement.
Do not remove the measuring device from the measurement area until you have heard the final beep.
10 short beeps and a red illuminated LCD will alert you that a temperature above 37.5 °C has been measured.
Always take the temperature at the same location, as temperature readings can vary from place to place.
Doctors recommend taking the temperature rectally in newborns for the first 6 months, as other measurement methods can often lead to unreliable results. If you still want to perform a non-contact measurement in newborns, check this with a rectal measurement.
In the following circumstances, it is recommended to take three measurements and use the highest result:
Children younger than three years with a deficient immune system and for whom the presence or absence of fever is critical.
When the user is first learning to use the thermometer, until he/she is familiar with the device and obtains consistent results.
If the measurement result is unexpectedly low.
Temperature measurements should not be compared with each other, as body temperature can fluctuate due to time and ambient temperature; body temperature is often highest in the evening and lowest in the morning.
Normal body temperatures are:
Axillary: 34.7 - 37.3 °C / 94.5 - 99.1 °F
Oral: 35.5 - 37.5 °C / 95.9 - 99.5 °F
Rectal: 36.6 - 38.0 °C / 97.9 - 100.4 °F
Microlife NC 200: 35.4 - 37.4 °C / 95.7 - 99.3 °F
8. Switchable from Celsius to Fahrenheit
This thermometer displays temperature measurements in Fahrenheit and Celsius. To switch between °C and °F, press and hold the MODE button 6 for 3 seconds; the beeper symbol will be displayed. Press the MODE button again; the current unit of measurement («°C» or «°F» symbol) will be displayed AO. Switch between the units of measurement (°C/°F) by pressing the M button 5. When the unit of measurement is selected, press the START/IO button 7 to activate «ready for measurement»; otherwise, the device will automatically switch off after 10 seconds AT.
9. Recalling 30 measurements in memory mode
This thermometer displays the last 30 measurements, including date and time.
Recall mode AP: Press the M button 5 to enter recall mode when the device is off. The memory symbol «M» flashes.
Result 1 – the last result AQ: Press the M button 5
and release it to see the last result. Screen 1
only with memory symbol.
By pressing and releasing the M button 5 after the past 30 results have been recalled, the sequence above will resume with result 1.
10. Error messages
Measured temperature too high AR: The symbol «H» will
appear if the temperature is higher than 43 °C / 109.4 °F in
body mode or 99.9 °C / 211.8 °F in object mode.
Measured temperature too low AS: The symbol «L» will
appear if the temperature is lower than 34 °C / 93.2 °F in
body mode or 0.1 °C / 32.2 °F in object mode.
Ambient temperature too high BT: The symbol «AH» will appear when the ambient temperature is higher than
40.0 °C / 104.0 °F.
Ambient temperature too low BK: The symbol «AL» will appear when the ambient temperature is lower than 15.0
°C / 59.0 °F in body mode or lower than 5.0 °C / 41.0 °F in object mode.
Operating error BL:
«Er 0» / «Er 6»: The system is not working properly.
«Er 2»: The device is placed directly on the forehead or object. Keep a distance of 1 - 5 cm. Never touch the underside (sensor area) of the measurement sensor.
Blank screen BM: Please check if the batteries are inserted correctly. Also check the polarity (<+> and <->) of the batteries.
Low battery BN: If only the icon is displayed, replace the batteries immediately.
11. Cleaning and disinfection
Use a cotton swab or cotton wool soaked in alcohol (70% isopropyl) to clean the thermometer casing and probe head. Make sure no liquid enters the inside of the thermometer. Never use aggressive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning, and never immerse the thermometer in water or any other liquid. Make sure that the surface of the probe lens and the screen are not scratched.
12. Battery replacement
This instrument comes with 2 long-life 1.5V AAA batteries, which must be replaced immediately if only the symbol BN is displayed.
Remove the battery cover BQ by pushing in the indicated direction.
Replace the batteries – check the correct polarity as shown by the symbols in the compartment.
Batteries and electronic instruments must be disposed of according to local regulations, not with household waste.

Never open the device.
A normal biological process called vasoconstriction can occur in an early stage of fever, resulting in a lower skin surface temperature; the measured temperature with a thermometer may then be suspiciously low.
If the measurement result is not consistent with the patient's findings or suspiciously low, repeat the measurement every 15 minutes or check the result with another core body temperature measurement.
This device contains sensitive components and must be handled with care. Observe the storage and operating instructions as described in the chapter «Technical specifications»!
Allow children to use the device only under adult supervision; small parts can be swallowed.
Do not use the device near strong electromagnetic fields such as mobile phones or radio installations. Ensure a distance of at least 3.3 meters from such devices when operating this device.
Protect it from:
- extreme temperatures
- shocks and drops
- dirt and dust
- direct sunlight
- heat and cold
- If the device is not going to be used for a longer period of time,
the batteries must be removed.
