Directions for use
Installing batteries
• Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the base unit 1.
(See fig. 9.)
• Insert two CR2302 batteries. Pay attention to the polarity.
(See fig. 0.)
• Close the battery compartment.

Notes on the batteries
• If you hear a buzzer five times in a row, the batteries are (almost) empty. Replace the old batteries with new ones.
• Remove the batteries if you will not be using the device for one month (or longer). This prevents damage to the device from battery leakage.
• Batteries (i.e. rechargeable batteries) are not suitable.
• Do not use a new battery together with a used battery.
Do not use batteries of different types.
• Do not allow battery acid to come into contact with your eyes. If this does happen, immediately rinse your eyes with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor.
• Before inserting batteries, check that the battery compartment is intact and undamaged.
Insert the nasal tube 4 into the base device 1.
• Place the nosepiece 6 as far into the nose as is comfortable.
Pressing the angle adjustment 5 on both sides makes it easier to insert and remove the nasal tube from the nose.
• Press the on/off button 2 to turn on the device. You'll hear a buzzer. The nosepieces 6 will begin to emit red light in two wavelengths.
• A therapy cycle lasts approximately three minutes. The device then switches off automatically. Press the on/off button 2 to switch off the device during treatment.
• The Medinose Compact can be used three to five times a day with a break of five to six hours between treatments

After finishing use/cleaning
• Remove the batteries if you will not be using the device for one month (or longer). This prevents damage to the device from battery leakage.
• The device is not waterproof. Therefore, do not use liquid cleaning agents that could penetrate the device.
• Clean the base unit and the nasal tube only with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not allow water to enter the unit.
Make sure everything is hygienically clean afterwards.

• Do not make any modifications to the product that have not been approved by the manufacturer. Unauthorized modifications will void any warranty claims. Do not disassemble or repair the device or its components.
• Do not carry out cleaning or maintenance work when the appliance is switched on!
• Avoid high temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not immerse the device in water, as this will damage it.
• If the appliance has been stored at very high or very low temperatures, allow it to acclimatise for approximately 2 hours (at the temperatures specified in Technical data, under "Using environment") before using it.

Use the appliance only for its intended purpose, as described in the user manual. Using it for any other purpose will void the warranty.

The device is not intended for commercial or medical purposes.
• When children under the age of 16 use this product, they must be supervised by an adult.
• The appliance is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
• Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
• Do not look directly into the light rays, even when using an optical aid (e.g. glasses).
• Do not use the device near flammable gas (e.g., anesthetic gas, oxygen, or hydrogen) or a flammable liquid (e.g., alcohol). Do not use the device in an oxygen-enriched environment.
• Do not use the device if you are near high-frequency equipment or are connected to it (e.g. for medical examinations).
• The appliance must not be used near appliances that emit short waves or microwaves.
• Use only accessories intended for the appliance and supplied by the manufacturer.
• You may only clean the device yourself. Do not repair the device yourself if it is defective, as this will void any warranty claims and can no longer guarantee safe operation. Consult your specialist dealer and have repairs carried out only by medisana customer service.
• Information on possible electromagnetic interference and other interactions between the Medinose Compact and other devices, as well as information on countermeasures, can be found in 'Information on Electromagnetic Compatibility'. To avoid possible interference from electromagnetic radiation emitted by other devices, we recommend keeping the Medinose Compact at least 30 cm away from such devices (e.g. Wi-Fi routers, microwave ovens). The Medinose Compact must not be used near active medical radio-frequency devices or near MRI devices.

4. The following are excluded from the warranty:
a. all damage caused by incorrect use, e.g. failure to comply with the instructions for use;
b. damage resulting from a repair or intervention by the buyer or an unauthorized third party;
c. transport damage that occurred on the way from the manufacturer to the consumer or during shipment to the service department;
d. parts showing normal wear and tear.
5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential damage caused by the device is also excluded if the damage to the device is recognized as covered by the warranty.
