Usage
Effective relief of allergic rhinitis (e.g., runny nose and sneezing)

Instructions for use
Inserting batteries • Open the battery compartment on the underside of the main unit 1. (See fig. 9.) • Insert two CR2302 batteries. Pay attention to the polarity. (See fig. 0.) • Close the battery compartment. Notes on the batteries • If a beeping sound is heard five times in a row, the batteries are (almost) empty. Replace the old batteries with new ones. • Remove the batteries if you are not using the device for one month (or longer). This prevents damage to the device from leaking batteries. • Rechargeable batteries are not suitable. • Do not use a new battery in combination with a used battery. Do not use batteries of different types. • Battery acid must not get into your eyes. If this happens, immediately rinse the eyes with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor. • Check that the battery compartment is intact and undamaged before inserting the batteries. Insert the nasal probe 4 into the main unit 1. • Insert the nasal piece 6 as far into the nose as is comfortable. By pressing the angle adjustment 5 on both sides, the nasal probe can be inserted and removed from the nose more easily. • Press the on/off button 2 to switch on the device. A beeping sound will be heard. The nasal pieces 6 will start emitting red light at two wavelengths. • A therapy cycle lasts approximately three minutes. The device then switches itself off automatically. Press the on/off button 2 if you want to switch off the device during treatment. • The Medinose Compact can be used three to five times a day with a break of five to six hours between treatments. After use / cleaning • Remove the batteries if you are not using the device for one month (or longer). This prevents damage to the device from leaking batteries. • The device is not waterproof. Therefore, do not use liquid cleaning agents that could penetrate the device. • Clean the main unit and the nasal probe only with a soft, slightly damp cloth. No water should enter the device. Ensure that everything is hygienically clean afterwards. • Do not make any modifications to the product that have not been approved by the manufacturer. Unapproved modifications will void any warranty claim. You may not disassemble or repair the device or its components. • Do not perform any cleaning or maintenance work when the device is switched on! • Avoid high temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not immerse the device in water, as this will damage it. • If the device has been stored at very high or very low temperatures, allow it to acclimatize for approximately 2 hours (at the temperatures indicated in Technical Specifications, under "Operating environment") before use.

Warnings
Use the device only for its intended purpose, as described in the operating instructions. If used for other purposes, the warranty will be void.

The device is not intended for commercial purposes or medical applications.
• When children under 16 years of age use this product, they must be supervised by an adult.
• The device is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
• Keep the device out of reach of children.
• Do not look directly into the light beams, even when using optical aids (e.g., glasses).
• Do not use the device near flammable gas (e.g., anesthetic gas, oxygen, or hydrogen) or a flammable liquid (e.g., alcohol). Do not use the device in an oxygen-enriched environment.
• Do not use the device if you are near high-frequency devices or connected to them (e.g., for medical examinations).
• The device should not be used near devices that emit short waves or microwaves.
• Use only accessories intended for the device and supplied by the manufacturer.
• You may only clean the device yourself. Do not repair the device yourself if it malfunctions, as this will void any warranty claim and safe use can no longer be guaranteed. Ask for advice from your specialist dealer and have repairs carried out only by the medisana service department.
• Information on possible electromagnetic interference and other interactions between the Medinose Compact and other devices, as well as information on countermeasures, can be found in 'Information on electromagnetic compatibility'. To prevent possible interference from electromagnetic radiation emitted by other devices, we recommend keeping the Medinose Compact at a minimum distance of 30 cm from such devices (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, microwave ovens). The Medinose Compact should not be used near active medical high-frequency devices or near MRI devices,
because their electromagnetic radiation is exceptionally high.
• The device should not be used by multiple persons to avoid the transmission of infections.
• Stop using immediately if you feel unwell or experience pain during use and consult a doctor.
• Do not drop the device, do not repair it yourself, and do not make any modifications.
• Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids.
• If the device behaves in an unexpected
manner during use, please contact customer service.
• Do not wrap the cable around your body, as this poses a strangulation hazard.
• Swallowing batteries or battery acid can be extremely dangerous. Keep the device and batteries out of reach of children and disabled persons.
• Any type of use not described in these operating instructions may lead to a potentially dangerous emission of radiation and should therefore be avoided.
• The device should not be used if you are allergic to plastic.
• The device is intended for self-application by the patient.

Storage advice
Store at a temperature between -20 and +60°C This device must not be disposed of with household waste. Every consumer is obliged to return all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether they contain harmful substances or not, to a municipal collection point or to a shop where a comparable product is purchased, so that they can be disposed of and processed in an environmentally friendly manner.

Warranty and repair conditions
Our warranty described below does not affect your statutory rights. For warranty claims, please contact your specialist dealer or the service department directly. State the defect and include a copy of the proof of purchase if the device needs to be sent in. The following warranty conditions apply:
1. medisana products are covered by a 3-year warranty from the date of sale. The date of sale must be proven by a proof of purchase or invoice in the event of a warranty claim.
2. Defects due to material or manufacturing faults will be remedied free of charge within the warranty period.
3. Granting a warranty does not extend the warranty period for the device or replaced parts.
4. Excluded from warranty are:
a. all damages caused by improper use, e.g., by not complying with the operating instructions;
b. damages resulting from a repair or intervention by the buyer or an unauthorized third party;
c. transport damages that occurred on the way from the manufacturer to the consumer or during shipment to the service department;
d. parts that are subject to normal wear and tear.
5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential damage caused by the device is also excluded, even if the damage to the device is recognized as a warranty claim.
