Instructions for use
Usage: restore power supplyTo use the medisana ultrasonic nebulizer IN 515, it can be powered by 2 AA batteries of 1.5V or using the USB-C cable.a) Power supply with batteries:Open the battery compartment cover 7 at the bottom of the device in the direction of the arrow (see figure). Insert the2 supplied batteries (type AA/LR6 1.5 V). Ensure that the batteries are inserted in the correct direction. Closethe battery compartment cover 7 again. Replace the batteries with new ones as soon as possible if theindicator light 3 flashes orange when the device is switched on. b) Power supply using the USB-C cable:Open the cover of the USB-C port 1 and connect the USB-C cable to a suitablepower source. The device cannot be used to charge rechargeable batteries. Preparation for use1. Ensure the device is switched off.2. Open the lid of the reservoir 5 and fill it with the inhalant (maximum capacity 10 ml = 10 ccm). Carefully read the usage and dosage instructions on the leaflet of the medication you are using.3. Close the lid of the reservoir 5 again. Check that the reservoir 5 is correctly placed and keep the device as uprightas possible to prevent leakage. Inhaling with the mouthpiece1. Sit as upright as possible.2. Place the mouthpiece 4 on the device and fully close your lips around it.3. Switch on the device by pressing the on/off button 2. The indicator light 3 will illuminate green.4. Now, breathe in slowly and deeply through the mouth and out through the nose. You can improve the effectiveness of the therapy by holding your breath briefly after inhaling. However, this is not necessary for a general therapy result. It is importantto remain calm and relaxed while breathing in and out steadily. Do not inhale too quickly. If you wish, you can take a shortbreak and remove the mouthpiece 4 from your mouth. Put it back in your mouth (lips fully enclosing it) and breathein and out slowly again. NOTES• Keep the device as upright as possible. However, if it is held slightly tilted, this does notaffect its use. For optimal performance, ensure that you hold the device as straightas possible during inhalation.• Move the device slightly when the amount of aerosol is almost depleted, so that the remaining amount is betterdistributed over the membrane.5. A treatment should not last longer than 20 minutes.6. When the reservoir 5 is empty, the indicator light 3 will glow red and the device will switch off shortly thereafter. You can also manually switch off the device after inhalation by pressing the on/off button 2, even if not all of the inhalanthas been used.7. Pour out any remaining inhalant from the reservoir. Do not use it again. Always clean the device immediately after use. (See also "Cleaning and Maintenance" and "Disinfection".) If the mouthpiece 4 has been in use for a long time, 2 - 3 drops of inhalant may appear in the mouthpiece tube during use. However, this does not affect the use or operation of the device. Remove the drops after use with a soft cloth.Inhaling with the maskAn adult mask and a children's mask are also included. These allow the aerosol to be inhaled through the nose.This application is particularly pleasant for older people.For inhalation with the mask, the adult or children's mask 4 should be placed on the outlet of the reservoir.Then follow the instructions as described in "Inhaling with the mouthpiece". The difference is that the mouthdoes not close around the mouthpiece, but the mask is held over the mouth and nose. Cleaning and maintenance• Remove the mask or mouthpiece from the device and pour out any remaining inhalant.• Never hold the entire device or the nebulizer unit under running water for cleaning, and ensure no water entersthe device.• Start the cleaning mode of the device as follows: ensure the device is switched off and add 3-6 ml of clean waterto the reservoir 5. Activate the cleaning mode by pressing and holding the on/off button 2 for 3 seconds. Theindicator light 3 will flash green slowly. The cleaning mode lasts 3 minutes, and the device will exit this modeby automatically switching off.• Now disconnect the power supply (remove batteries and/or disconnect USB-C cable).• Press the release button 6 on the back of the device and remove the reservoir 5.• Rinse the inside of the reservoir 5 with clean water for at least 3 minutes. Do not rinse thebottom of the cup, see image.• You can clean the device housing with a cloth lightly dampened with amild detergent.• Clean the mask or mouthpiece under running water.• Afterward, allow all parts to air dry thoroughly on a dry, soft surface (e.g., atowel).• If the device has not been used for a long time and before its very first use, you should also clean it in this manner.DisinfectionIn case of infectious diseases, in addition to cleaning, the device should also be disinfected by followingthe steps below. We recommend performing the following actions regularly in the morning or evening at a fixed time:• Rinse the mask(s) and mouthpiece with distilled water.• Bring distilled water to a boil in a pot.• Place the mouthpiece in the boiling water for 5 minutes.• Then remove the parts from the water and allow them to air dry (e.g., lying on atowel) and cool down.• Instead of boiling, distilled water, you can also place the parts in a solution ofcleaning alcohol 75% – they only need to soak for 1 minute. Then rinse the parts with distilled water and allow them to air dry.• Ensure that no residues of the disinfectant remain on the parts, as this couldotherwise pose a risk during the next use of the device.TroubleshootingProblem: little/no nebulizationSolution: replace the batteries or check if the power supply is in order. Check if the reservoir 5 is correctly mounted on thedevice and if there is enough aerosol in the reservoir. Clean the device.Problem: indicator light 3 flashes green and then turns offSolution: the device has been in use for a long time. Switch off the device and wait a few minutes before using it again.Problem: indicator light 3 flashes red and then turns offSolution: reservoir 5 empty or insufficient power voltage.Problem: indicator light 3 flashes orange and then turns offSolution: replace the batteries or connect the USB-C cable correctly and ensure there is enough aerosol in reservoir 5.Contact customer service if the above instructions do not solve the problem.Electromagnetic compatibilityThe device complies with the requirements set out in standard EN 60601-1-2 for electromagnetic compatibility. • Do not insert fingers or objects (e.g., cotton swabs, etc.) into the opening of the device - risk of damage!
• Do not repair the device yourself if it is defective. Have repairs carried out exclusively by an authorized service center.
• Do not open the device or alter it in any way.
• This device is not suitable for use in an anesthesia or ventilation device.
Before use
• The device is designed for use in an environment that meets the conditions described in the technical
specifications. Ensure that you adhere to these.
• Do not continue to use the device if it is damaged or has fallen into water, but contact customer service
or send it for repair.
• Check that all parts are clean or disinfected. Prevent the risk of infection, follow the instructions and clean
the device and parts, as described in the "Cleaning and maintenance" and "Disinfection" chapters, respectively.
• The reservoir 5 can be filled with a maximum of 10 ml. Never fill the reservoir beyond the marked maximum.
• To prevent bacterial infection, never use the mouthpiece, adult mask, and children's mask with multiple people.
Each user should use their own mask or mouthpiece.
During use
• Never switch on the device if there is no aerosol in the reservoir 5.
• Keep the device balanced and still during use to prevent spilling.
• Do not open the reservoir lid during use.
• Stop use immediately and consult your doctor if you experience any discomfort during use.
• This device has a timer that automatically switches it off after 20 minutes. Each time the device is switched on,
this timer restarts.
• If the timer expires or the device switches off due to another problem (e.g., insufficient power voltage,
aerosol depleted), the indicator light 3 will turn red.
After use
• Clean or disinfect the device and parts, as described in the "Cleaning and maintenance" or
"Disinfection" sections of this user manual. Failure to follow these instructions may lead to infections due to the
growth of microorganisms.
• Do not store the device and parts in places exposed to direct sunlight, heat, or moisture.
• The device and parts should not be cleaned in the dishwasher or dried in the microwave.
• Always keep the device out of reach of children.
BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Do not disassemble batteries!
• Remove nearly empty batteries from the battery compartment immediately, as they can leak and damage the device!
• Increased risk of leakage, avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mucous membranes! In case of contact with battery acid, rinse the
affected area immediately and thoroughly with clean water and consult a doctor immediately!
• Consult a doctor immediately if a battery has been swallowed!
• Always replace all batteries simultaneously!
• Only use batteries of the same type, do not mix different types or used and new batteries!
• Insert the batteries correctly, paying attention to the polarity!
• Remove the batteries if you will not be using the device for at least 3 months.
• Keep batteries away from children!
• Do not recharge batteries! There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not short-circuit! There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not throw into open fire! There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not dispose of used batteries and accumulators with household waste, but collect them separately or hand them in at a shop where batteries are sold!
