Traditional Hopi ear candles
Usage
The non-burning side of the ear candle is placed vertically in the ear with a slight rotating motion and gentle downward pressure to completely close the ear canal.
The ear candle is properly placed when no smoke is seen coming from the ear canal and a fine crackling sound is heard. The hand rests over the patient's ear, with the ear candle held between the fingers. This provides a feeling of protection and security.
Extinguishing the ear candle.
The ear candle won't extinguish on its own. Let it burn until it's about 1 cm above the red line, but no further. Then, remove the ear candle from your ear with a gentle rotating motion and extinguish it in a glass of water.
You should always treat both ears, one ear at a time, to ensure energetic balance. After removing the ear candle, gently clean the ear with an ear spoon to remove any condensation that may have clung to the small ear hairs and the front of the ear canal.
Warnings
For safety reasons, it is not recommended to place ear candles on yourself.
Always have a second person (e.g., a partner or friend) perform the treatment. This person must follow our instructions strictly to ensure safe use and allow the recipient to fully relax.
Do you have chronic or acute complaints? Or are you unsure whether ear candling is right for you? Then ask the therapist of your choice for advice.
In case of a perforated eardrum, middle ear bone implants, acute ear infections and skin conditions of the ear and auditory canal, ear candling treatment is generally not recommended.
Extremely rarely, an allergic reaction occurs, which can manifest itself as itching and can be quickly resolved with ear drops.
