Shilajit is a blackish-brown, sticky, resinous substance found in the serene Himalayan landscape. It has formed in the mountains over thousands of years. It is created through a slow process in which organic material, such as plant remains, is broken down under extreme pressure and temperature in the mountains. Shijalit is collected from steep rock faces at altitudes between 1,000 and 5,000 meters. Mattisson shijalit originates from India.
In Ayurveda, Shilajit is classified as a 'rasayan' (which in Sanskrit means rejuvenator and immunomodulator) and as a 'medhya rasayan' [a rejuvenator for 'medha' (intellect)].
Shilajit consists of fresh and amended remains of humus, the characteristic organic component of soils.
Mattisson Shijalit is a 10:1 extract, using hot water as the extraction medium. The product is standardized to 20% fulvic acid and 60% humic acid. It is free of heavy metals, pesticides, and is non-GMO.
