Mattisson Multi Magnesium capsules are a blend of 5 different forms of magnesium: Magnesium Citrate, Malate, Taurate, Bisglycinate, and Aquamin® Magnesium. This product contains 200 mg of elemental magnesium, or 54% of the RDA, per two-capsule serving.
What is Magnesium?
Magnesium is a mineral needed for many processes in the body. Rich sources of magnesium include cocoa, green leafy vegetables, nuts, dates, prunes, and avocado.
Magnesium deficiency is becoming increasingly common. Stress can play a role here, as the body uses a lot of magnesium during times of stress. There are also medications that lower magnesium status. Symptoms associated with magnesium deficiency include cramps, fatigue, constipation, anxiety, and restlessness.
Organically bound forms of Magnesium
The Magnesium variants in this product are organically bound forms of magnesium, which are more easily absorbed than inorganically bound forms of magnesium due to their high bioavailability. Our daily diet generally contains mainly inorganically bound magnesium, as these are the forms found in the soil and absorbed by the plants we eat.
What is Magnesium Citrate?
Magnesium citrate is a compound of magnesium and citrate (citric acid salt). Magnesium citrate is particularly well absorbed by tissues and muscles and is therefore ideal for athletes.
What is Magnesium Malate?
Magnesium malate is a bond of the mineral magnesium to organic malic acid. Malic acid can be used in the citric acid cycle, which contributes to the formation of ATP (energy). Magnesium malate is well absorbed.
What is Magnesium Bisglycinate?
Magnesium bisglycinate is bound to the amino acid l-glycine and can therefore more easily cross the blood-brain barrier.
What is Magnesium Taurate?
Magnesium taurate is a compound of magnesium with the amino acid L-taurine, which is an endogenous substance. This compound makes it easy for magnesium to cross the blood-brain barrier and be absorbed in the brain.
What is Aquamin® magnesium?
Aquamin® magnesium is a multi-mineral complex that is well absorbed by the body. Aquamin® magnesium is extracted from the clean, mineral-rich seawater off the Irish coast, which is why it is also called marine magnesium. Marine or sea magnesium contains magnesium hydroxide. The advantage of magnesium hydroxide is that it can be directly absorbed into the body.
