What is lactoferrin?
Lactoferrin is a naturally occurring iron-binding protein found in the body's mucous membranes, respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal tract. The word "lacto" refers to its richest source: milk. "Ferrin" refers to lactoferrin's important ability to bind to iron.
