What is calcium citrate/malate?
Calcium, also known as lime, is a mineral found in foods such as milk, cheese, nuts, vegetables, and legumes. Calcium citrate and malate are both organic forms of calcium. Organic calcium is absorbed more efficiently than inorganic calcium forms such as calcium oxide or calcium sulfate.
What is elemental calcium?
Elemental calcium refers to the pure, unbound form of the mineral calcium. This is the calcium that is readily available for absorption by the body and is used in dietary supplements and medications. In the case of these capsules, the elemental calcium content of two capsules is 174 mg. This is equivalent to 22% of the recommended daily allowance (RDI).
What does calcium contain?
Calcium is found in various foods. For example, milk, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, broccoli, spinach, and bok choy contain calcium. Calcium is also found in various types of fish, such as sardines, salmon, and canned tuna. Finally, calcium can be found in chickpeas, beans, almonds, and sesame seeds. The amount of calcium varies, of course, by food.
Calcium helps maintain strong bones, teeth, and contributes to normal blood clotting and normal cell division.
Calcium also supports energy levels, is good for muscle function and is important for the nervous system.
