What is this medicine used for? Lucovitaal® Wart Away is a medical device for the treatment of common warts (verruca vulgaris). It contains monochloroacetic acid, a substance that has a degrading effect on the skin. The wart will peel off layer by layer. Monochloroacetic acid causes the cells containing the wart virus to disappear.
Directions for use Apply Wart Away with extreme caution. The solution is caustic. Take extra care when applying to hard-to-reach areas of your hands or feet, especially for people with limited mobility or impaired fine motor skills (shaking hands, stiff fingers).
1. Wart away has a cap with a child lock that can be opened as follows: Place the bottle on a firm surface that is resistant to the corrosive liquid. Avoid contact with clothing, textiles, or tablecloths. You can open the bottle by pressing the cap down and turning it counterclockwise.
Do not remove the cap with applicator from the bottle yet. 2. Before removing the cap completely and dabbing the wart, first apply a generous amount of Vaseline or zinc ointment to the healthy skin around the wart as a protective layer against the caustic 3. Remove the cap with applicator from the bottle. 4. Then apply a small amount of Wart Away to the wart using the spatula (do not let the liquid drip). Make sure you apply Wart Away to the wart only once and do not touch the wart more than once. 5. Let it dry briefly and do not cover the wart. Close the bottle carefully after use. Wart away should not be applied more than once a week.
The applied liquid takes a week to dissolve the top layer of the wart, so you will not see results immediately after application. Depending on the size and thickness of the wart, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment after one week. Do not repeat the treatment within an interval of less than one week.
Medical device. Read the instructions for use before use.
Contraindications Do not use Lucovitaal® Wart away: • In case of hypersensitivity to one or more components; • On the face (under no circumstances should the liquid come into contact with the eyes or the mucous membranes of the nose or mouth); • On genital warts or in the genital area; • On moles, water warts, open wounds, pigment spots, port-wine stains, age (brown) warts, foot warts (plantar), dark colored hairy or strange looking warts; • On red, irritated or infected warts; • Immediately after surgical removal of warts, freezing of warts (cryotherapy) or laser treatment. This is especially true when the skin is red or painful after the treatment. In this case, you should wait at least 4 weeks until the redness or inflammation of the skin has completely disappeared. Only then can you start using Lucovitaal® Wart Away;
• During pregnancy or breastfeeding; • On warts that are completely or partially under the nail. • Do not use on warts that occur completely or partially on the soles of the feet (plantar wart).
Be extra careful when using Lucovitaal® Wart away: • If there are doubts about the diagnosis (the skin change cannot be clearly explained as a wart); • In case of immunodeficiency (for example when you use cytostatic drugs); • In case of diabetes, or other conditions such as vascular diseases, that make it difficult for wounds to heal.
In these cases, Lucovitaal® Wart Away should not be used before consulting a doctor.
Warnings • For external use only; • Use very carefully. The liquid in Lucovitaal® Wart Away is corrosive; • If healthy skin comes into contact with Lucovitaal® Wart Away, rinse it with water.
If, despite this precaution, skin irritation occurs, the skin should be treated in the same way as burns; • Contact your GP if symptoms persist; • Close the bottle properly after use and store in an upright position; • Keep out of reach of children; • Use by children, elderly and disabled people, always under adult supervision; • Avoid contact with skin, clothing, textiles, tablecloths; • Stop if blisters develop; • We recommend treating a maximum of 2 warts per treatment; • Do not treat the wart more than once and only repeat if necessary after an interval of one week.
