A Heltiq Underpad is used to absorb blood and amniotic fluid during a home birth. The midwife and maternity nurse use the underpad when performing checks on the mother. The underpad can also be used after childbirth when there is postnatal bleeding.

Use
Instructions for making the maternity bed Place a Heltiq Mattress Protector widthwise on the mattress where the lower body will be positioned, and tuck the mattress protector around the mattress. Place a fitted sheet over the mattress and the Heltiq Mattress Protector. Next, place the two Heltiq Maternity Pads side by side on top of the fitted sheet where the lower body will be positioned on the mattress. The underpads are used during home births and for checks performed by the midwife and maternity nurse during the maternity week. In addition to the Heltiq Maternity Pads, the underpads can also be used as extra bed protection.
