Usage
A tampon is a special product for female hygiene, providing comfort and safety. When a woman uses tampons for the first time, it is normal to practice a few times to easily and comfortably insert the tampon: 1. Wash your hands. Hold the tampon with both hands and twist the packaging open in the direction of the arrows. Then, remove the foil from the tampon on the string side first. 2. Assume a comfortable position with relaxed muscles. Standing upright with slightly bent, spread knees and one foot on the toilet seat, is one of the most common positions to easily access the vaginal area. 3. Untangle the string and pull it briefly and firmly. Make sure the ends of the strings are connected. 4. Push your index finger into the indentation at the end of the tampon and remove the top layer of foil. 5. Insert the tampon into the vagina; this is easiest when the body is relaxed. 6. Push the tampon as deep as possible, in a slight arc into the vagina. The string will then hang outside your body. 7. When the tampon is inserted correctly, you will not feel anything. If you feel any discomfort, it means the tampon is not inserted correctly or deep enough. The tampon must be removed and a new one inserted. Make sure you insert the tampon deep enough. WHEN TO REPLACE A TAMPON Change the tampon every 3-6 hours, depending on the heaviness of your menstruation. To remove the tampon, stand with your legs apart and bend your knees slightly. Make sure you are relaxed. Pull the string hanging from your body in the same direction as you inserted the tampon. If it feels uncomfortable when removing the tampon and you see some white fibers, the tampon may not be saturated enough. Always use a tampon with an absorbency capacity less than the flow. Make sure you have removed the last tampon before inserting a new one. Make sure you have removed the last tampon of your menstrual period and do not use tampons in between or before your menstrual period.

Warnings
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME (TSS) TSS is a rare but serious illness. It is caused by toxins produced by Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium commonly found on the skin, in the nose, and in the vagina. TSS can occur in women, men, and children. It is estimated that 1-17 out of every 100,000 menstruating women and girls get TSS each year. The risk of TSS is higher in adults and women under 30 than in older women. Although the frequency is low, it is very important to be aware of the risk and to know what to do if it occurs. It is important to recognize the symptoms and start treatment as soon as possible. The following symptoms may indicate a possible TSS infection: - sudden high fever (39°C/102F or higher) - dizziness - vomiting - muscle pain - skin irritations (similar to sunburn) Not all symptoms may occur, perhaps some. In a more advanced stage, the skin may peel. TSS can manifest during or shortly after the menstrual period. It can rapidly develop from flu-like symptoms to a serious illness with fatal consequences. If you have one or more symptoms, immediately remove any tampon present and go to the doctor. Make it clear to the doctor that you have used tampons and that you are concerned about TSS. It is wise to consult the doctor first before you start using tampons again. You can reduce the risk of TSS by using tampons with the lowest absorbency needed to meet your needs and by changing the tampon regularly (every 3-6 hours). Another alternative is to use sanitary pads at least once a day instead of a tampon. If you do not use tampons, the risk of TSS is greatly reduced, but not completely eliminated.
