Lactoferrin is a multifunctional, endogenous protein. The body produces lactoferrin itself, and the protein is found in bodily fluids such as tears, saliva, pancreatic juices, urine, and mucus. Babies receive the highest dose of lactoferrin through breast milk. After this, the protein is present in the body only in very small quantities.
