The Diatesse XPER can measure ketones in addition to glucose.

When we exert ourselves, our body uses sugars. Sometimes it can also use fats.
When fats are used, ketones are produced. These ketones, if in large quantities, can acidify our blood. An elevated ketone level is called "ketosis." A significantly elevated ketone level, including acidification, is called "ketoacidosis." This can occur when following a ketogenic diet.
Since ketoacidosis in combination with diabetes can lead to a diabetic coma, measuring ketones under special circumstances is highly recommended. Especially if there is also illness and/or fever and vomiting. You should also consult your healthcare provider if this is the case.
