Chi Orange Blossom Hydrolate Organic

A floral water from the flowers of the bitter orange tree. A wonderfully floral and intriguing scent. Due to its fragrance, orange blossom hydrolate is used in cosmetics. Slightly hydrating on the outer skin layer and beneficial for sensitive skin. Due to its slightly astringent effect, orange blossom is ideal for oily skin. For dry skin, it is advisable to mix orange blossom with rose or lavender hydrolate. A splash in the bath works as a perfume. Every nursery should have the gentle orange blossom hydrolate for baby skin care.

What are hydrolates?
When distilling plants, two products are created: essential oil and hydrolate. A hydrolate has different components and active ingredients than the essential oil of the same plant material. Hydrolates are less potent than essential oils but certainly not inferior! Hydrolates are versatile and easy to use: from refreshing to caring for very sensitive skin.

Chi Natural Life has successfully carried this product in its range for more than 20 years without preservatives; however, it is extremely difficult to keep some hydrolates stable over a longer period. We increasingly find that produced batches do not meet our high-quality requirements, where a hydrolate, for example, only has a shelf life of 6 months, which is insufficient. Therefore, a very small amount of Geogard has been added to our Orange Blossom hydrolate and Witch Hazel hydrolate. This is a preservative that is Cosmos/Ecocert compliant and therefore allowed to bear the natural cosmetics label. However, this ingredient means that these hydrolates are no longer suitable for consumption.

Storage advice
Hydrolates have a shorter shelf life than essential oils. Fresh hydrolates are pure and bacteria-free. It is best to store a hydrolate in the refrigerator, or as cool (and dark) as possible. After opening, most hydrolates have a shelf life of 1.5 years.
