Marula oil is extracted from the nuts of the marula tree, native to Southern Africa. The tree is also known as the ‘elephant tree’ because elephants enjoy eating its fruit. For thousands of years, the marula tree has been ingrained in African traditions. All parts of the plant are used in traditional care and for health. This tradition lives on because the oil is so effective for daily skincare.

The natural oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the marula tree, which contain up to 56% oil. At room temperature, pure marula oil is liquid and absorbs directly into the skin, without leaving a greasy feeling. The best marula oil is cold-pressed, unrefined, and has a soft, fruity scent. The oil is rich in minerals such as magnesium, copper, and zinc.
