Calendula macerate

Calendula (marigold) is an ancient medicinal plant that has been valued for thousands of years for its skin-restoring properties. Native to the Mediterranean and Asia, calendula is now also a popular garden plant. The yellow to golden-orange flowers are striking for their exuberant bloom from early spring to late autumn. The Latin name also reflects this: the name calendula is derived from 'calendae,' which means first day of the month.

Skin care & massage
Many people know the effectiveness of calendula! The oil can be used pure for many skin problems and is perhaps the best oil for chapped and chapped skin. Calendula is also particularly suitable for sensitive or flaky skin and for baby skin prone to (diaper) rash. Thanks to its moisturizing and protective properties, calendula is also a good after-sun oil. Scientific research shows that calendula supports the skin's regenerative capacity. Calendula macerate is also a key ingredient in the Calendula Repair Balm: first aid for both acute situations and persistently irritated skin.

You can use the macerate pure or mix it with almond or jojoba oil for a super softening (baby) oil. Use the calendula macerate for:

Dry spots
Cracks
Red and irritated skin
Dehydrated skin
Sensitive skin and babies
Diaper rash and red bottoms
For a relaxing massage oil with calendula macerate, you can take 100ml of fatty plant oil and optionally add 10 – 15 drops of essential oil.

What is a macerate?
A macerate is an oil product made from a fixed plant oil (usually olive oil) containing active ingredients from flowers or other plant material that has been soaked in the fixed plant oil. The name macerate comes from the Latin word "macerare," which literally means "to soak." Maceration is the traditional way of applying essential oils and other active ingredients from a plant to the skin. To make the macerate, the plant parts are soaked for a month or longer in a good quality olive oil. It is then strained, and the macerate is ready.

This macerate is a 20% solution of calendula in olive oil.

This macerate is enhanced with a natural antioxidant from rosemary CO2 extract. This organic CO2 extract comes from the needles of the rosemary plant and is dissolved in sunflower oil. A small percentage of this natural antioxidant is added to the macerate by the farmer. Because fresh flowers, leaves, or roots are used in the macerate's production, macerates are vulnerable to mold and other contaminants. This natural antioxidant extends the macerate's shelf life!
