CellCare Taurine essentialsTaurine is abundant in the body.
An adult human has approximately 1 gram of taurine per kilogram of body weight in their body.
Taurine works with glycine and GABA. Taurine is a semi-essential nutrient for older children and adults, and is mainly synthesized in the liver and brain from the sulfur-containing amino acids cysteine and methionine. Vitamins A, B3 and B6, and the minerals zinc and manganese are involved in this conversion.
Babies and young children cannot produce taurine themselves; for them, taurine is an essential nutrient.
The dosage is approximately 100 to 150 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day for adults, and approximately 50 to 75 milligrams of taurine per kilogram per day for children.
The OSL (Observed Safe Level) for adults has been calculated at 3 grams per day.
