Bountiful Granola apple raisin muesli organic

Muesli is a popular breakfast product consisting of oat flakes and (dried) fruit, which is eaten with milk or yogurt. Yogurt with muesli can also be enjoyed as a dessert.

Muesli was developed in 1900 by the Swiss physician Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner for his patients as a diet food. Dr. Bircher-Benner was one of the first nutritionists to attribute diseases of affluence to a diet that was no longer "lebensfrisch," or fresh from nature. He advocated a vegetarian diet. His theory, in short, was that the human organism can best thrive and recover by eating raw and minimally processed fruits, seeds, and vegetables.
