Buckwheat flakes gluten-free organic Buckwheat was a common food source until a century ago, but it has since fallen into disuse. Many people think buckwheat is a grain. This is not the case. Buckwheat is a herbaceous plant grown in the Netherlands, but originally came from China. Buckwheat grains are the seeds of that plant.
The seeds, once dehusked, are then crushed. These can be made into a porridge, sprinkled with some flakes in your muesli, or used to bake cookies. The flakes are also an excellent binding agent and cook quickly. The flakes cook for approximately 10 minutes, with a 5-minute resting time.
