This acid-free vitamin C is a buffered (de-acidified) variant of vitamin C. In this form, vitamin C is bound to calcium, which ensures a neutral pH value. This makes this variant much milder for the stomach and intestines than the acidic form of vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
